View Full Version : Last Gen SLI users shall be vindicated.

I dont mean this as some kind flammatory post about new hardware. Which I know is going to be great. But strictly speaking. The last 7 months SLI users have had to endure alot of "It's not worth it. Or you're card will be outdated when Nvidia/ATI release there next hardware".

It seems obvious to me that SLI put last year's technology well ahead of its time. 2 6800GTS are churning about 11,000 fillrate and Ultras even more. Also add to the fact that in AFR mode they still have significantly more vertex performance than anything available. ((Aside from next gen Dual GPUS)) Fortunately its starting to show just how well SLI is actually scaling. In Many cases its 50% or better. Or even better upwards to 85% or better in pure GPU limited situations.

So call it a bragging thread. Call it a vindication thread. SLI users are not hurting for performance. And from the looks of it. They will hang in many cases ahead of next generation performance. At least for a while.
So was SLI worth it? I'd have to definately say "Yes" at this point. Oh and forgive the tooting my own horn. I've heard enough "SLI wasnt worth it posts" that I needed this!
