Well........I can trade up one of my 6800GTs with eVGA today only (purchased one on 3/22-just made it) for a 7800GTX for $225.00. I could probably sell my other 6800GT for 225.00 and break even . Don't know if I will do it or not. Would you all get rid of your 6800GT SLI setup for one 7800GTX?

The other 6800GT was already a step up from a eVGA 6800 128 agp card- eVGA won't let you step up twice. I'll keep your "dibs" in mind since we are from the same area. Decisions- Decisions.....

looking at the bench marks the SLI 6800Ultra is faster than a single 7800 so my guess would be that the SLI 6800GT is about the same as a single 7800, so i wouldn't unless you feel the need to have a 7800

You've really got nothing to loose. Perf for both should be on par. If nothing else, your rig 'll be consuming less power with the same or slightly better perf

Are you wanting another GT so you can do SLI?

I've sold my SLi 6800Ultras and bought a single 7800GTX.

Not been impressed with SLi in the slightest so I'm looking forward to the simplicity of a single card solution while not losing too much in the way of performance.

no, i want to move to pci express. figure i can sell this 6800 gt agp for around the same price he is offering his pci express version.

edit: maybe down the line i will grab a second 6800 gt.

It seems to me that a single 7800GTX is a more attractive solution than 6800GT in SLI, for the following reasons:

--Superior HDR performance
--Superior AA image quality enhancements
--Higher performance in Unreal 3 engine
--Comparable performance to SLI 6800GT in many games today
--Potential for more headroom when overclocking
--Lower power demands
--Single-slot design
--Upgradeable to two 7800GTX's for even more performance potential

Do it. This is the best opportunity to make your EVGA purchase really worth it. There is no other way you will get full credit for your card else where and you are most likely to upgrade sometime down the line anyways. One of the best things about the EVGA step up program.

I agree get the 7800GTX you can get SLi later on but it has compaiable SLi 6800GT peformance now yet with no need to use SLi profiles :)
