Make some critics about these statements :

*Movie special efects makers will hardly ( not to say never) use video cards to do special efects, for sever reasons ( you name them).

*Nvidia line of products is so complex as those from ATI

*Bandwidth eficiency is being more discussed than anti-alising ( people compares methods more than discuss, on this one), shading and polygon processing. So bandwidth is the most important thing that needs to be enhanced nowadays.

PAY ATTENTION TO THIS FIRST MASSAGE, BECAUSE I WILL ADD MORE STATEMENTS TO BE CRITISIZED

Not really a critic, but a related excerpt from an interview (here (http://www.arstechnica.com/wankerdesk/01q3/ff-interview/ff-interview-5.html), last page).

"I think that hardware-assisted rendering holds great promise for our industry, not just for real-time applications such as games, but also for producing high-quality previews and even final imagery.

Our immediate goal is to produce tools which will allow the director to see previews which more closely resemble the final imagery in terms of lighting, materials, and textures so that he can make decisions quicker, resulting in a faster turnaround of shots and increasing the overall production pipeline.

On the final imagery front, I think the quality of the images made possible by the latest graphics hardware is sufficient for TV series and even for non-photoreal movies. And at rendering times of under a minute a frame."

*Hmm not useing Video Cards capabilities to make special effects ?
What they useing emulation from CPU and waiting 2 days to finish 1 fram hmmm....... not likely in this AGE of technology.

Paper ships flying on wire's are thing of the past ;)

*Well as not being a engineer noone from this forum can say witch hardware is more complex  sure sofware wise Nvidia is more mature , ATI drivers are realy big these days

*Movie special efects makers will hardly ( not to say never) use video cards to do special efects, for sever reasons ( you name them).

the number one reason.. -> the lack of vision .
also ignorance of 3d graphics .

there is a lot of things to do ,for VIdeo cards to be used
in Holywwod movies many things to do, but with every generation card , things are more and more closer .

also For your own information ,The TOp Packages used
by animators and special effects holywood studios already support Nvidia Cg in their software . for realtime graphics..preview
of your scenes.. and This is what i think the begining
of Cinematic Quality in real time.

that was really smart move by Nvidia , its a most
have feature in 3d packages today. if Nvidia keep pushing
and improving Cg ,there will be many Graphics Studios houses
using Nvidia hardware not only for previewing but for rendering
too in their final shots.
