Hm, numbers seem low. I'm downloading the 1.08 patch right now. Once that's done, I'll try again. Wonder why I can't get 1280x1024 res?

Edit 01: Reran the perf test with several forced options from the CP: AA 16xQ, AF 16x, AA transparency Supersampling on, no Vsync.

This is odd i got a faster cpu, a faster gpu, more mem and higher 3dmark benchies but still you beat me in fear. Are you using any special tweaks?


My FEAR 1.08 settings:

Adv. comp. options -> Physics, Sound, Effects = MAX
Adv. Video Card Options -> Effects, Graphics = 1280x1024, 4x AA, 16x AF, the rest on MAX

i´m sorry mate i made a misstake i had no soft shadows on and FSAA 4x AAF 8X
so there is why i got more

well this bis what i got without soft shadows otherwise the same settings as you have.

all i do is disable my NIC no internet

off with FW antivirus
and then i get up the taskmanager and start shutting down processes to get it to as low as possible.

then i benchmark games 3DMark aquamark and so on

i have AA AF in CP set to application controlled

otherwise everything is set to max quality in CP

in game settings are
4xFSAA 4x AF
otherwisse maxed out that is 1280x1024 computer maximum

Not bad at all - the 7900GTX is without doubt a very powerful graphics card. If i had a 7900GTX i would not upgrade to 8800 for a while.

Yup its fear 1.08 and driver settings are ok. I think the driver are limiting fear but 100+ fps is ok for me.

I ran the test 3 more times getting the 60 avg at 1024x768 with 4xAA/8xAF. Then I switched to 16x12 again to see what the results would be like for it and got around 20 avg. I then switched back to 1024x768 4xAA/8xAF and got the normal 7/32/263. I think switching the settings caused the AA to take effect whereas when I was getting the 60+ fps, I think AA might not have worked even though I had it set in-game to 4xAA. Maybe I need to do a vid_restart type of thing like other games for setting to truly take.



Did you make sure that soft shadows was off??? I remember that this game won't initialize AA if soft shadows is on at the same time. However; they may have fixed this with further updates ....like ver. 1.8

I don't have proof for the above but I do have mr first ever run in picture form, and it has just slightly lower scores. Remember we are talking 2560x1600 4mp here thats 4 times the resolution of 1920x1200 and I still have max settings and 4xAA with 16xAF.
