they all look like pre-rendered videos with exception to the last pic which looks pretty bleh.

You can easily tell that the NBA shots aren't prerendered. The ball for one is low poly and then look at the players shirt, it doesn't have contact with his skin which is a common flaw when doing clothing that is rendered in realtime. Heck even his left arm is using pretty crappy textures.

This looks like a photo from NYC!!! Are you sure this isn't a picture and is actual in game footage?

Yes on background objects, not on a sign located on a wall in plain view.

Aside from NBA Live and Monster Madness (which looks like a high-res first generation PS2 game) those are obviously pre-rendered. Not too exciting. I expect this generation of consoles to be the apex of marketing B.S. and disappointed consumers.

Yeah, if you look at the brick wall under the eat-in diner, the corners are a tad to sharp to be real, but HOLY $&!& this has solidified my decision to purchase an xbox 360.

I actually have been doing some research on project gotham 3, and they are saying it is in game.

Many times, especially with pre-launch franchise games, screenshots will be pre-rendered and doctored up, then represented as "in-game" since it uses the same polygon complexity. Take Brothers in Arms, for example, which had a lot of great looking screenshots but ended up looking like someone took a dump on your computer screen. All I'm saying is, you'll be disappointed if you buy a 360 expecting what you're seeing there. Unless you're looking at Monster Madness, which is probably the only shot truly representative of what the system will actually look like.

But hey, I could be wrong. And if I am, this thing is a beast. :D

Take a look at what GT4 did, they displayed all the photo mode pictures prior to release and while those are rendered ingame they are still shots using the highest possible output that the PS2 can produce, hehe.

But GT4 didn't look bad during gameplay though, I mean the NY Track was awsome!

This was already talked about in another thread, apperently it was confirmed to be "in-game": http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=52537. I'd like to see a video of the game in motion so that we could be sure that it's actually being rendered in "real-time", but given how good PGR2 looked on the original Xbox it wouldn't surprise me if those kinds of graphics were possible on the Xbox 360.

The only thing that strikes me as odd is that almost none of those images are in the Xbox 360's native 1280x720 resolution, even the crappy looking ones like Monster Madness and Need for Speed. The only standard resolution shot is the second PGR3 screen.

The difference is, Sony deceives its customers all the time. They did it again at E3 this year. MS does not.

Really? Compare the prereleased Halo 2 media to the final product, not nearly as good looking as they lead you to believe.

Uhh here is the E3 2003 trailer for Halo 2:
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/xboxtv/default.htm?t=3856&v=84513&bw=hi&level1=halo2gdp&level2=video&level3=halo2e32003vtn

It looks identical to the released game.

Now look at the E3 movies for PS2 launch games and the final product, and the difference is massive. The same will be true for the PS3 games and the E3 movies this year. Sony deceives bigtime whether you like it or not, and far more than any other console maker.

Hmm I recall both GT2000 and MGS2 being showed off at E3, they both looked just as good if not better at release. Tekken Tag and Street Fighter also looked identical to what was shown. I don't know what games your hinting at that were misrepresented at E3 during the PS2s showing but I can't recall any games that were shown and then released to be drastically different.

BTW You can't blame sony if a 3rd Party Developer unviels a game and it changes (graphically or content wise), blame the developer not the console maker.

Oh and heres a shot of Halo 2 in 2003... no it didn't end up like this at all... not nearly as high res... and this is an MS Title since Bungi is owned by MS.

actually yeah that is what Halo 2 pretty much looked like. Now in that particular screenshot they had the characters in a particular pose to make the shot look really nice, but it does look like it is useing the Halo2 enigne to render it.
