I just noticed at this (http://www.msicomputer.com/msiforms/GFFX.asp) MSI page that apparently Geforce FX's suggested retail price is $450!!!

I really hope that will change by like $100 minimum by the time the card comes out next year in Feb/March or else there's going to be a lot of poor people like me around that time... :(

It will NOT go below $400 (for both versions) during the first batch. Maybe In February...

well I don't think the cards will show up sooner then middle to late February, do you?

According to some places, the card could show up in late December-early January. HOWEVER, THOSE cards will be REALLY expensive. Like $500. Probably going to be Ultra-only.

Heh..it's "late December" already.

IIRC, We don't even have one manufacturer that has officially ANNOUNCED their GeForceFX product. There's no way we'll see it on the shelf in early January, let alone by the end of this month.

I predict review samples in early / mid January, and products available late Jan / Early Feb. Mass availability late Feb / Early March.

The Ultra's probably $450 and the non-ultra will hopefully be $350.

I wonder where the NV31's (Ti4200 replacement) gonna fit in the pricing scheme. I remember reading something just a little while ago that there was gonna be a ultra and regular version of nv31. (Now I remember, I think it was a rumor mill thing on hardocp, which is no longer there) Maybe $250 and $200 for those two?

NVIDIA hasn't even officially announced the cards based on NV30 yet

huh? huh? (http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=geforcefx)

What are you talking about? Didn't you see the video? or the website? Press Release (http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=IO_20021117_7182)

EDIT: Or do you mean different models? :D

What we both mean is that there has been a paper launch of the architecture, but

1) no manufacturer like Asus, PNY, etc., has issued a PR about an actual product yet we can buy

2) nVidia has not released official, final specs (including clock rate and suggested MSRP) for any GeForceFX models.

Considering the lack of the above, being able to have products on the shelves in the next couple weeks is next to impossible.

so this is the gfFXUltra that is $450? that would be the only thing that really makes sense.

It doesn't say anywhere GF FX Ultra Give-away - so I doubt it is

i can't believe that the Ultra would only cost $50 more than the regular version, at that hefty a price it would be pointless to even have "two products." which leaves an alternative of the Ultra costing more than $500. also unlikely i feel, as the r9700Pro is dropping in price, and the R350 is coming, the latter probably being priced at $400 MSRP.

Q. Prices of graphics card products are already quite high. What sort of prices can we expect to see for the Geforce FX range or future products?

A. I think I covered this one above … final pricing has not been confirmed but NVIDIA are saying target price is $499 and this becomes £449+ Inc VAT (remember all US prices are quoted excluding local state taxes)

So its $500 with VAT :(

I hope to God the non-Ultra version doesn't cost $450 (US). I really doubt it's ability to best the R300 Pro, which will be hovering around $300 in most places by then. If that's the Ultra version, then I can breath a sigh of relief that nVidia hasn't gone insane. :)

I agree BD. If the $450 price for the ultra is true then it sounds like a reasonable price compared to the 9700pro (as I assume that is looking at one MSRP vrs the other).

I meant the models :)
ATi did the same. They announced the chip then not long afterwards they announced the R9700 PRO and the R9700
NVIDIA has yet to announce the models

We're yet to see full 3dmark benchamarks or reviews or any indication what's so ever that Geforce FX actually works with the advertised specs...there's still a lot of information under NDA about Geforce FX - I know sites that have had the test card for over 2 weeks now and they still can't post review of it!!!

Obviously not "review" ones (since none has been reviewed yet, lol)but as to samples, yeah, of course, I'm 110% sure.

Where do you get the £500 incl. VAT? £449 incl. VAT is quoted above, the US prices are excl. local sales tax as each state has thier own sales tax, hense the US never quote prices incl. sales tax as it varies from state to state.

On a side not, these prices DO seem to be getting a bit high, I remeber buying a GeforceDDR the first week it came out for £199. Then I imported the most exspensive GF3 @ $370 US + TAX

I think is prices stay above £450/$450, alot of people may just go buy a 9700pro!

If we get $449 for the NV30 Ultra and $349 for the NV30 regular, then we'd probably get $249 for the NV31 Ultra and $199 for the NV31 regular. $159 for the NV34 Ultra and $99 for the NV34 regular.

So, if that's true, and my speculation isn't too insane... This is *good* :D
Oh, and BTW, while this is based on no sources... I'm guessing the NV34 doesn't have color compression. Or at least, not the NV30 color compression.
