Ok i had windows 2000 pro installed on c: ok then i installed my partition magic 8.0 and i created a linux partition and after creating the swap partition magic asked me if i want to install the linux OS right now i said yes so it reboot my pc and the pc wont boot up at all is stuck at the POST screen before the progress bar comes on of the windows 2000 boot up logo it just stops at boot from atapi cdrw it basically stops at the last cdrom drive that setup in my bios wich is the phi;llips cdrw drive.

Is there a way to fix the boot up issue please i have important data on my 2000 drive. I was going to install linux redhat 8 but this issue happens.

What i did so far that didnt fix the issue is boot off the win 2000 disk and chose the recory console option and i type in fixboot and that seems to fix something cause it said it found a corruption and it repaired it succesfully. so i reboot it still gets stuck.

I would go ahead an boot off yer w2k cd and do a repair. Beware if you've already installed Linux you will have to reinstall because windows likes to rewrite the boot block meaning it won't know the linux & linux swap partitions are out there. Also did you make any PM8 diskettes? If so you could boot off those and check to make sure you've got at least one active parition and nothings hidden.

Don't you mean the Master Boot Record (MBR) instead of "boot block", Juice? :p

Forgive me, man! When I see "boot block", I immediately think of that small portion of the BIOS that's supposed to save your butt after a bad flash update. :)
