DOS ftw!. Nothing like custom CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT!!!. I loved those MENUITEM things on CONFIG.SYS to boot with HIMEM.SYS and EMM386!!!

You mean Windows ME 2.0? But there's already an entry for Windows ME in the poll! Just go and join the other masochist who already voted for ME :headexplode:
I'll give my vote for XP, preferably in the 64bit variety - Rock Solid, Heart Touching :D (wait, isn't that the slogan of another company? ;) )
Those complaining about XP being slow and bloated have never seen Vista, the king of all sluggish bloats :thumbdwn:
you really are something "else"
but this thread is a nice example how much people complained about XP back in 2002. XP was released in October 2001, and in Feb 2008 it still has issues, hence the SP3.

It doesn't appear that they are complaining about it near as much. XP is basically a modified 2k, so there's not much difference there besides the bloat needing more RAM. The number of service packs doesn't mean anything to me. All Windows since NT have had some service packs. Give Vista a long enough shelf life and it will be up there with the others.

Voted "other" cause I would have to say I enjoy Vista the most. :D

I'd have to go with either NeXTSTEP or BeOS. Most of you probably never used NeXTSTEP , but it was very impressive. And it is the basis of OS X. BeOS had a lot of cool features, too bad it died a sad lonely death.
But deep in my heart, my old Apple II's BASIC boot is still my favorite. Boot up and start programming. No other OS has been so influential in my life since. They might be prettier, faster, and a hell of lot more useful, but my Apple II shaped my life.

LOL - I didn't think this many people would start posting in this again.

I really did'nt have to much problems with any of them ,I liked Me which was just 98se with some extras ,but I like it because I did'nt have to mess with activation, and I could do a clean install anytime i wanted and knowing I did'nt have to mess with a 48 digit code or ever how many it is with XP.BUt in windows XP I had it stable as hellll and new how to fix most anything that did go wrong ,I still see no use for Vista ,to me it is full of bloatware and games harder to run ,but it is getting better. One of these days I put my Vista back in ,I think I try the 64bit version next time since I have'nt never played with it yet and I had all of them since last January.

Old operating systems never die; they just get put in a window.

My favorite "of all time" would probably be OS/2. The stuff it did in 1993 was akin to magic for me. In fact I have had a personal OS/2 revival of sorts, after 10 years away from it I have it set up in a virtual machine and I use it for casual web surfing and IRC. It can't get a virus, it can't get spyware, and it is too dead for anyone to bother. Seamonkey and Firefox are current. I have no idea why.
