View Full Version : Looking for a new Mobo
elloz,
Im after a new motherboard but not too sure what to get. Can anyone give me any reccomendations?
the pc shop near my house sells only epox boards. are they any good?
After a
-Socket939
-nForce3
-onboard sound
-gig lan
-4x ram slots
thnx
The Epox AMD s939 boards are stable, fast and great OCers. I rarely see a negative comment about the boards. I'd actually have an Epox expect I felt routing the 24pin ATX across my small case, to the right sie of the CPU, might pose a problem. I happen to now be looking for a replacement board and CPU(once again :( ) and I'm giving the Epox serious consideration.
I don't wan't to thread crap but here's why I need new parts:

Epox or MSI.
Personally, I would take the Epox.
ive noticed a few people have dfi lanparty, they any good?

I've used EPoX motherboards for the last 6 years and have never, ever had a single problem related to them. Even the 8KHA+ / Ti4600 fiasco didn't affect me; it was either overblown or I got a better revision.
EP-8KTA3+ (VIA KT133A)
EP-8KHA+ (VIA KT266A)
EP-8KDA3J (nVidia NForce 3 250GB)
EpoX makes fantastic motherboards; don't feel at all hesitant to try one in your next system.

DFI 939s are way overkill unless you plan on BIG OCing, I had two and imo they are not worth the work.
I went ahead and ordered the EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123236).....I'll just have to work the ATX power cable thing out

DFI lanparty NF3's and 4's are very good. Problem with the NF3 it does not have the 4 dimm slots you require. The NF4 does but it is PCI-Express.
Don't think you could go wrong with any of the NF3 boards now and the Epox board looks very nice. :D
Also the NF3 DFi board is socket 754 which makes it useless for a socket 939 Processor.
Yes exactly. I don't think Abit has a 939 nForce3 board either.
Dazz and jAkUp, I did not mention the 'new' DFI UT NF3 Ultra-D (939) because I don't think it is available in the US and I think it still has the 3 dimm configuration...have not seen it so I could be wrong.
Ok looks like Epox has a very good rep. :D. Ill have to go for a nForce 3 board because my 6800GT is agp.
Thnx all for the help
I was wrong they do have a NF3 Ultra board they where quite about that. http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_product_spec_details_r_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=3160&CATEGORY_TYPE=LP&SITE=US
hmmm... it has 4 slots too... interesting :) Probably a good overclocker on that board with Oskar Wu behind it ;)
