Looks like Nvidia is preparing to launch its Geforce 7800GT according to the Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=24359) . :D
Anyone care to guess specs and price tag?

As good news as this is, and i want it to be true. I just don't believe the inq anymore at all, lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean. :D
Care to take a quess about clocks and price tag?
I think 380/1100 for 499$ is reasonable in the crasy world we live in. :)

My guess is 390-400 as the core. Memory is up for grabs.
pricetag id say 399-499.
I know nvidia is trying to keep the 6800 on market till the end of the year. But i think it would be wiser for them to just place the 7800 cards now directly in the price point slots of the 6 series cards. While I understand their reasons for havi ng them above the current price point, can you imagine not only the pressure it would put on ati, but how many consumers would pick these cards up at those prices?
$500 - 24 pipes - 380/1.1
6800 Ultra will drop to $400
6800GT will drop to $300
Oh wow, the inq is saying the 7800gt is going to be released, like no one saw that coming? I predict that a 7600gt will also come out as a mainstream card, quickly post my findings on the front page!
It should be $499 for the 7800GT.
It should be $499 for the 7800GT.
What about clock speeds?

7800GT
400MHz/1000MHz
$1
i wish
I wonder where it'll fit performance-wise? Will it be faster than a 6800U?
ok then what is the gtx.... if there is an ultra card coming in the next month or so were does that leave the gtx... i mean why would nvidia do this. so we are gonna have a gtx-ultra, gtx, gt, and vanilla.... why doesnt this make any sence at all.

Perhaps the 7800GTX is truly Nvidias high end part?

<speculation>ultra might be another "ultra extreme". one of those mega-rare cards put out to compete w/ ATi's mega-rare "ours is faster then yours" card.</speculation>
i predict nvidia will release tons of cards, tons and tons.
I think that maybe the "Ultra" and "vanilla" designations are not going to be used in this generation... leaving "GTX" and "GT"...
IMO "GTX" sounds like a progressive evolution of "Ultra"... leaving "GT" as the more ordinary sounding tag...
I also for some reason think the 7 series will be abbreviated slightly, featuring enthusiast and higher end mainstream cards, but nothing below that, allowing the 6 series to run it's course as nv still has yet to rid its stock of GF4MX and 5200 chips...
Someday, soon I think and hope, a $100 vidcard will have 8 pipelines, SLI capability and... NO MORE TSOP MEMORY!!! It's about time, isn't it? ;)

380/1100, $450-500.
theinquirer didnt tell anything new (or anything as usual)
Anyway if we have to dream with a GT why dont' dream
with a card without extra power conector

I'm glad to see this.
I would love a GTX but will
not pay 600 for a video card.
If they release a GT at say 380 core
and 1000 memory for 499.00 great.
I'll just wait a bit and pick one
up when they drop to 400 or less. ;)
Or just grab 2 6800GT's and slap
them on a SLI mobo cheap. :D

335/1100MHz & $499 (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=2403&s=1) :)
Core clock seems low, too low.
Yeah, core clock looks way low! :thumbdwn:
I'm thinking X800XL with no power connector and no overclockablility. :(

That's the reference clock. Not many manufacturers are releasing new cards at reference clocks anymore, especially not with the 7 series (so far).
considering 68GT and 68U
7800GT with 256mb gddr3--> core 350 mem (1.6ns) 1100 or (2.0ns) 1000
price 499.00 USD (Its obvious)

I read in an FAQ (I believe somewhere on NV's website) that the 7800 is slated to REPLACE the 6800 Ultra. It sounds like this is the natural evolution. The 7800GT replaces the 6800 Ultra, and the 6800GT and lower models still get sold this year and round out the lower price points in the lineup.

WOW... That is very low clocks.
After seeing this I bet they also
take the extra power connector off
the GT so it will not clock as high as the GTX.
I hope they leave it on there though. :)
It could be the overclockers dream card.
Let's hope it overclocks better than the 6800GT did.
