Hi, I'm running freebsd 5.4 stable on an hp/compaq r3000z laptop. When I ran linux on this laptop it was necessary to use the module option : "options nvidia NVreg_Mobile="0" " in order to be able to use the nvidia drivers (otherwise I would get a severely garrbled screen). Now with freebsd I have not found any information about how to get the nvidia drivers working with my laptop. But the problem is slightly different, now when I try to start X with nvidia drivers I simply get a black screen, that I cannot kill, and cannot even reboot, I must do a hard shutdown. And on a further downside, Im even unable to run with the xorg "nv" module with full resolution (1400x1050) when I do I get a large black border around the screen, unless I use Option "IgnoreEDID" "1" in xorg.conf, which only solves half the problem, the borders then only exist on the left and right side of the screen.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.
