6600gt tearing amnd generally messed up graphics [Archive]

Hi

Hope you guys can help me out. Having probs with my new Gigabyte 6600gt AGP - I think its artifacts and tearing - in anyting that seem to stress the card such as BF2 and in the 3DMark demo screens as follows:

I have update all drivers (inc. trying nvidia 77.20/71.84,80.** all with DriverCleaner, mobo, soundcard, bios divers etc) and stil get it.
I can run older games OK. 3DMark scores in the upper 2000's. Temp. is fine at around 67C.

I have a 3.0ghz P4, 1024mb ram, Trigem SiS661fx mobo, 300w power supply (which may be part of the prob?) and run XP SP2.

Al I can think is that either the card is faulty, or it doesn't like my mobo, or the power is not enough.

Any ideas?

many 6600gt cards are known to have problems like this... most likely due to the hsi bridge. sometimes it's also due to the psu. if you don't want to bother with upgrading your psu something i've seen work with people with weak psu is you can try raising agp aperture in motherboard bios to 1.6v-1.8v.
