Albatron Technology has released the world's first AGP to PCIe Bridge Card. Albatron says its card, dubbed the ATOP, will allow users to use their existing AGP-8x VGA card in a mainboard designed for PCI-Express resulting in "considerable savings" in upgrade expenditures.

ATOP requires a mainboard with an empty x16 PCI-Express slot and supports the Albatron AGP cards in the following series:
- FX5200 Series
- MX4000 Series
- FX5700LE Series
- AGP6200 Series
- FX5700 Series
- FX5900XT Series
- 6800 Series

Installation is easy: the AGP-8x card simply piggybacks on top of the ATOP card's AGP-8x slot, the ATOP card is then plugged into the mainboard's PCI-Express slot. Other steps are to replace the AGP bracket and install a driver .

Albatron says its ATOP bridge is the perfect solution for cost conscious users caught in the middle of the AGP-8x, PCI-Express transition, "With the ATOP, you can have the best of both worlds, saving money and extending the life of your original investments."

Pricing and availability for the Albatron ATOP were not announced.

i freaking told everyone, but no one would listen. FINALLY! viable evidence that nvidia is not dumb enough to spend all that money to make a pci-e to agp bridge just for use on a single solitary card.

It's the other way around. It's there to make you use your older AGP board on a new PCIe motherboard. It's not PCIe to AGP, it,s AGP to PCIe.
