Hi, all!

My sister computer is an old Pentium 133Mhz machine, Intel 430VX chipset, 64MB EDO RAM, unknown board that after being shutted down for one day, gets its time/date totally lost and outdated. So I opened the case, bought and identical battery and replaced it. After testing it, we were aware nothing had changed. It is still losing its date/time. Any suggestions are welcome.

P.S. It seems bios config remain intact after saving changes. It's just a problem of the RTC.

Are you sure the new battery is good? Find someone with a multimeter that can test it. It is possible that the new battery is weak from sitting on a store shelf for a very long time. Especially if it is an older type that is uncommon.

Thanks, maybe I bought a dead battery...
I think the battery is CR2032 (not sure), is it an old type?

FYI Lithium batteries, as the ones used in computers, have a shelf life of 10years. ;)

Thanks, so I am guessing the battery was in good shape. It came properly sealed and didn't seemed old. I don't know what's happening.
