Well I have a 7800GTX and I have seroius problems.

My hardware is;

AMD 64 3200+
Asus AN8-SLI Premium
Geforce 7800 GTX
2 hd and a thermaltake psu 500W

I have the latest beta driver for the mobo 1006
I'm running 77,72 WHQL
nForce chipset driver is 6,66 (downloaded it today at nvidia.com)
Win XP SP 2 and all the updates

Performance is really low for this card,
3D mark 05 - 3600-4000
3D mark 03 - 10000-11000 (scored better with my old 6800 Ultra 14000)
Aquamark 44000-48000

And the games are slow.

All the settings in the control panel are att max performance no aa no af enabled.

I installed rivatuner and moniterd the clocks speed during benches and they are high and correct, above 430 on the core.

I have tried everything I can think of loaded up the defaul bios setting, tripple checked the extra power plug, unplugging my Aud.2SZ (it shared the same IRQ) but still no luck, the card performs bad I don't know why.

The only option left is to reinstall XP but I doubt that would help.

Please help if you can.

Thx

Make sure under Performance and Quality Tab, "Acceleration" is set to "Single Display".
If its already on single display, then
The only option left is to reinstall XP but I doubt that would help.

Please help if you can.
Try.

What video card did you have installed before? Did you make sure all the old drivers were removed and run a util like drivercleaner? If you are using the molex to pci-e power connector, if so do you have both molex plugs hooked up from different lines direct from the PSU?

edit: ah n/m about driver cleaner didn't see you had a 6800 before...

I did run Drivercleaner to be on the safeside but still no gain. And about the pci-e power connector, it goes directly to the PSU.

well the strange thing is that it does run and all but the performance isn't there.

I know you put them on but it looks like either the mobo drivers arent working, or aa is stuck on. If that isnt the case Im afraid a reinstall is needed. :(

Man, sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope things get resolved soon. The 7800GTX is just too sweet of a card to put up mediocre numbers like that.

Thanks guys.

Well I just reinstalled windows and still nothing, got 11000 3D Mark 2003 and 44.000 in aquamark.

With the same setup expect for the 6800 Ultra I had almost 72000 in Aquamark and 14000 in 3D mark 2003.

I feel like crying here. Live sucks right now, I just don't know what to do anymore.

Have you tried any of the other nforce drivers or tried using the ones that came with the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium? I'll give the new 6.66 drivers a whirl tonight to see if they work okay for me.

I'd try running SiSandra troubleshooter to see if it picks up on anything you might not see.

I tried 2 sets, 6,53 and the newly realesed 6,66 and still the same.

Okay, the 6.53s are currently what I'm using and I'm using the latest beta bios as well. Does the device manager show everything being recognized properly?

Yes it does, well except for my printer, but I didn't feel like installing right now.

btw OWA, does your aud.2 share the same irq as your 7800?? mine did (IRQ 18)

Thanks, I did but everything was fine.

I had really bad scores at 3dmark05 too (6-7000 in SLI!!!) i found the issue (now back to 11-12000)

It seems my Wi-Fi card is messing with the SLI configuration.
I don't think it is your problem coz in single card mode i was not having the issue.

Just to say that the performance issue is sometimes related to other factors:
- try killing ALL background applications/services u can
- try disabling/deactivate unusual hardware (TV card, WiFi, ...) for testing

Thanks, I did so too, but still crappy scores, the only thing i ususally have in the background is antivirus software and firewall, but I have been benching with those before as well.

the issue comes often from combination of two things.
it means that u may never had issue with particular software/hardware and no particular issue with 7800, but sundently both joined together are not happy at all...

don't assume something is not the cause because it worked before. My Wifi for exemple never gave me issue in single card mode...i could have assumed that it was not the fault (what the hell as Wifi to do with SLI?!?!?, never had issue before...)

Yes your are right about that Zurble, you never can tell. Unfortunaly for me I don't know what to do, perhaps I will try other drivers out and see if the performance is the same.

I found the issue by reinstalling XP and installing only Nforce4 chipset drivers, 78000 drivers and 3dmark05 (no sound or network cards), then installing each driver/software separatly by running 3dmark again between (i didn't run the whole bench, only the game 2 where i knew it should start with 45 fps)

u can install drivers/software by pack of 2 or 3 if you are confident, and use the rollback "restore point" of XP when u pass the faulty software

edit:
if you don't wanna reinstall all again after finding the issue, you can make an image copy of your C drive (ghost?) before reinstalling....and when you find the issue, get your image back and try deinstall the driver/software causing that

note: game 2 starts with 45 fps in single card mode and 53 in SLI. When i had the issue, it started with 20 or less, sometimes 30, and drops to 8 or 9. what number do you have?

Right after I installed XP, I installed SP2 and then the chipset drivers and forceware and finally 3D Mark 2003, still I had around 11000 and I know that its too low for this card, I should at least get around 15000.

which chipset drivers ?
i remember i once upgraded to nvida nforce 4 drivers (6.53) and my bench were lower then with ASUS 6.31...
but i don't think it could drop so much.

i am launching a 3dmark to see what i get in single GPU

btw OWA, does your aud.2 share the same irq as your 7800?? mine did (IRQ 18)
Yeah, the Audigy 2 ZS is on 18 and the first 7800 is on 18. The 2nd 7800 is on 19 which is sharing with the firewire controller.

Edit: Maybe you should try disabling the SLI options in the bios instead of leaving them if auto (if auto is how you have them). I basically disabled all the stuff I wasn't really using (serial ports, parallel port, SATA RAID controller, integrated audio, etc.). Also, if you didn't already you might want to try clearing the CMOS and setting things again.

indeed, i get 17166 in 3dmark2003 Single GPU
and 28309 in SLI mode
(overclocked, HIGH quality in CP)

for IRQ, just put your card on the middle PCI slot to avoid IRQ sharing

Edit: on the premium board, SLI options are set in the BIOS i think (no special SLI card like on the deluxe)

Okey good to know, then sharing the same IRQ isn't a problem. In the bios I do have everything off expect for LAN, USB, I don't have all the other options turned on.
