View Full Version : Cold cathode burned out?

Do these things fail? I've had mine for a bit over a year now and today it just up and quit working... I can't get it to come back on and it was on when I left the house.

yah, they dont last very long.

Ah bummer. I have been running it pretty much 24/7 all year long but I figured it would last longer than that since regular fluorescent lights (assuming they are similar) seem to last a long, long time.
*EDIT* Turns out the box/power supply for the thing died on me. It wasn't the element after all.
Yea, I've had like 3 cathodes go out on me.. heh.

I ordered a new inverter from frozencpu for $16. Ah well at least it's working (borrowing one right now).

16 bucks, harsh. Should have just ordered a whole new kit.
Scroll down a bit and you can find entire kits for 7(or less)+shipping and tax.

Xoxide had the same kit I bought from FrozenCPU for $6 instead of $15 the same day I ordered. Not only that, the one I got from FrozenCPU had a broken cathode and was purple instead of blue. Does anyone else have problems with FrozenCPU messing up orders constantly? I've had 5 mistakes in two orders, and it's take over two weeks to get my latter order worked out.
The only reason I bought from FrozenCPU is because they ship same-day usually...

It was apparently a mistake to get it from frozencpu. Could've saved myself $8-10. Ah well live and learn. I just went back to them because they were where I got the stuff from originally. Oops...

Replace the cathode alone (no inverter) for $1.99 USD at xoxide.
