Does your ISP permit you to run servers of any kind?

Where's the "I don't think they allow it officially but they haven't noticed my server running on port 18413 yet" option? ;)
My ISP does not allow it (at least that's what says in the contract), although I had a long talk with my ISP's Network Operation Center and I've been told that I *may* do it as long my network is not compromised by an outside host. They do not block my ports so I'm free to use whatever I want. I believe my ISP does not check to see whether their costumers run a public service (not unless there is a problem)

I've been hearing mixxed opinions with Charter Pipeline. Even though the contract says NO SERVERS, I've been told by many Charter subcribers and techs that they really look down upon DEDICATED servers that's always on but they really don't give a damn about occassional servers cropping up once an blue moon. One tech told me, "Running a dedicated server will get your service pulled really quick but if a customer were to put up a small 8-12 player non-dedicated gameserver for just a few hours on a Friday or Saturday graveyard shift once in a blue moon, it's usually not a problem. Moderation is the key."
Because of the mixxed news I'm gettting, I've not bothered on giving it a test whirl. What one tech says another tech can contradict! :(
Not worth the risk.

The only way to get more than 1mbps from our providor (local cable company) is to buy the business plan which includes 1 static IP address for a dedicated server, so yeah we can run one.

I would run a dedicated server on mines, but then again, DSL ain't that great for that, and neither is a 2 person deathmatch :/
My answer similar to Volt's. (kthx bi ;))
My ISP contract says no but they don't do crap if you do run a server. Some people have been banned for running an ftp server though.

I just don't want to be capped. I enjoy my 10+ Mbps down and 1Mbps up...
