Not expecting this to become a sticky, but since we had a thread on useful software, I figured there needs to be an antithesis. Here you can rant about the worst software you've ever had the displeasure of running.
Lotus Notes
A worse e-mail client I have yet to find. This is what we use at work, and I hate it, hate it, hate it. It's buggy, bloated and completely counter-intuitive. Granted, the version we run is kind of old, but still, there's no excuse for some of the idiotic things this program does. I wish it would die a painful death.

The NVNews Pocket Sex Simulator. I can't get it to quit crashing. It blows (I wish). Completely useless bit of software, avoid it.

I dunno man, iTunes is easily the best all around music player I have ever used. Winamp may be slightly more functional, but in terms of playlist management and easy accesibility, iTunes wins hands down.

Yeah, the Xcode tools are REAL useless.
Apple has designed the Macinitosh to be the most developer/programmer friendly platform ever. I love the Mac I use for work, but I love my PC for the games!

Mozilla Firefox.
I still dont see what all the fuss is about and half the things on my website dont show up correctly for those that use it. I now have to bug test any changes with Firefox. Its up there with realplayer for me.:thumbdwn:

Now is that the fault of a browser that meets nearly every W3C standard in existence (Mozilla), or the fault of the leading browser that established proprietary methods for web design and coding that do not comply with the standards? Most (though admittedly not all) incompatibility that Mozilla users experience is the fault of the coder/designer for not writing code that conforms to standards (most likely designed for IE's implementation) rather than the fault of the browser.
If it does nothing else, the increasing usage of Firefox and Mozilla products is finally forcing web designers to code properly, and that is ultimately a completely positive thing.

MSN messenger, AIM, yahoo messenger, pretty much any firewall software, and finally...
firefox.. its just SLOWER than IE. i can't stand it.
and wow tabs.. yea.. so different from taskbar buttons...

Ummm... taskbars are way different. Taskbars are SEPERATE WINDOWS, meaning you have 2 instances of IE running, meaning more resources, and not only that, those are way at the bottom of the screen!!!
If tabs were not useful, you don't think IE7 would be using it right? FireFox loads pages much quicker than IE for me, especially if I use Firetune. With FireTune, it loads pages nearly twice as fast.
Trust me, I used to swear by IE, but one day I tried FireFox, oh man I was blown away. I still prefer it over even the IE7 Beta.

wow yea im sure even 10 instances of IE running slows (especially) your computer down.
i have tried firefox in beta, 1.0, and the latest version. i want to like. i want it to be faster. but it isnt. it could have 1 million features but the fact is BROWSING THE #1 THING YOU DO WHILE USING A BROWSER. if it isnt at least AS FAST as IE then there is no point.
maybe its the way it loads the pages/graphics? does it just seem slow? am i too used to IE?
Firefox is faster. Quite a bit faster after using Firetune for fast computers and connections. Also, the ability to simply hit ctrl+t then type in a new url is great. The best thing about firefox is security! After making the switch to firefox I never get spyware. When using IE I would have to run Adaware every day just to keep the amount of spyware down. :thumbdwn:
