Gotta download the drivers and DX9 when i get home tonight.
See any performance increase in games? The release from ATI claimed gains for all radeon cards on the new drivers.

LoL  i spoke to soon D3D runs awesome with AA and AF in all games BUT ATI screwed up on OGL part its impossible to play it Shutters like hell and sometimes even crashes after a minute , and by shutter i mean like you get 0 FPS for 5 sec every few secs    :o STUPID ATI Grrrrrrrrr........

Luckly for me, i only have 2 OGL games UT2003 and SOF2

Can always try

By any chance it is atioglxx.dll ? if so it didn't work same problem :(

yes you can use an older open gl dll if you wish, no problemo

personally I don't have any problems except these three:

flashlight is messed up in Silent Hill 2 when using Aniso, according to ATi the problems lies within the game/dx
http://w1.461.telia.com/~u46115957/SilentHill2.jpg

when using FSAA in splinter cell all lightsources shine through solid objects
http://majestic-twelve.space2u.com/abc/splintercell.htm

truform performance sucks more than ever
TRUFORM (http://w1.461.telia.com/~u46115957/TRUFORM.jpg)

I've tried Quake 3, MOHAA, MOHAA Spearhead and RTCW and they all run better than ever.
2D Quality and speed is best ever. Especially Open Gl quality looks damn amazing and crisp. D3D is pretty much the same yet a bit faster.

As for thoe Q3 based games I actually got a pretty substantial speedboost in those.
In MOHAA I used 1280x1024 with 4x FSAA and 16x Performance Aniso with the Catalyst 2.5
With Catalyst 3.0 I get the same performance using 6x FSAA and 16x Quality ANiso instead :)
even the dreaded winter forest stage is playable using these settings mind you!

and FINALLY after, what is it over two years?, Vsync is working properly for me in games based on the half life engine when using a 75 or 85 Hz refreshrate
(60 and 100 were fine)

I dare to say that, for me these are the best drivers from ATi yet. On the other hand a lot of people are having trouble with them.

If that didn't work something else is screwed up.
Are you sure the driver got replaced properly?

Intrestinglly enough, when I close Aol Instant Messanger in my taskbar this problem goes away. I'm guessing this is a memory leak of some sort. Either way there's obviously a problem that needs to be fixed.

well, it works for me, but I have to close aim. Shouldn't have to, but not really a big inconveniance.

I checked powerstrip after i installed the 3.0 and found that it was using the Microsoft OGL not ATi's. I am using a Powercolor 9000 Pro Evil Commando. I reinstalled it and made it use just the Radeon 9000 Series and it fixed the OGL problem. Not sure why but it seemed to work for me. :D

Thanks man, that could really help us out here, perhaps people are having trouble.
I've read about Windows using some kind of OGL wrapper in Quake 3, perhaps this is the same problem.

I get the same problem when using FSAA on my GF3, so I can confirm this is a game problem and not ATI ;)

BTW how is Silent Hill2 on the pc?

My only problem is that when I close something out of the system tray the screen flickers, but only certain ones like the Logitech Camera Tray and MSN Messenger. Also does this when I press Ctrl-Alt-Del.

just like the console version, just much better graphics :)
(except for that stupid texture bug with the flashlight)

The sub game Born from a Wish doesn't have a flashlight in it, just breezed through it at 1280x1024 with 6x FSAA and 16x Quality Aniso ;)

I think this game is just fine to control with a keyboard
there's like four keys to use only, and only two of them are keys that you will need desperatly so it doesn't really matter how you control it

looks pretty sweet using TV out at 1024x768 with 6x FSAA and 16x Quality Aniso when using my game pad too for that matter :)

though I still find Silent Hill (1) much better

I get 109 fps on UT2k3 1280x1024 4xfsaa&8xaniso on asbestos map.
Does this mean my rig beats GFFX using a pentium4 3GHz?:p :D

I'm getting the massive stutters too. Quake 3 literally runs at about 1 frame every two seconds...

If it realy uses MS OGL , how did you made it to use ATI's OGL ?

Boy I wish I knew. I could not find anything that would have made it jump to the MS OGL. But the reinstall and choosing the Series driver set fixed it. Go figure.
