View Full Version : Problem with RPTV connecting to 6800 GT

Hey guys,
I just bought a 51" Hitachi RPTV 57F510. The TV is absolutely beautiful for watching movies. Recently, i got an HDMI to DVI cable so that i could hook it up to my PC. I connected the TV up to my PC directly and everything seemed to boot up fine, but when i got to windows running at 1280x720 i could only see half of the screen. I looked at my display properties and it showed that i could bring the resolution all the way up to 1920x1080, but yet no way to make it fill inside the screen. I ended up having to make the resolutin something extremely low like 1024x5??(some very uncommon resolution).

If i try to boot into a game it gets even more strange. The game does the same thing as windows where if its running at a "high" resolution of 1280x720, i can only see a small part of the screen. I lower the resolution in the game to something like 1024x768 and the picture of the screen gets VERY small. I know I can stretch this out, but it just seems weird that such a small difference in resolution changes my screen from not even being able to see the whole screen to this VERY small box in the middle.

The specs of my computer are
3.2c P4
2gb 4x512mb ram

Any suggestions? Is this a driver setting issue? The TV is only 3 weeks old, i have a week to be able to return it. I really would like to game on it. The games i tested to "try" to play were UT2004 and CS:S.

still couldnt find answers. Really if i could run at 1280x720 i would be SOO happy. Is that possible with a rear projection CRT TV?

Thanks guys... apparently this is common for almost all RPTVs to have "overscan". My resolution sitting at 1152x620 looks good enough. I'm just wondering how Xbox360 or PS3 will look
