ATi will have problems, but it will ship on time. Reasons:

- R300 core already designed, unlike nVidia which fell behind having to design a core and make it work at .13u

- It won't be a new architecture, they'll know things about the R300

- Most changes will be minor, just DDR-II, 2 TMU's(knowing ATi, it won't happen...), better AA and Aniso, and newer pixel and vertex shaders

- They have 9 months to do it!

So, it will be on time and fine. Don't say it won't! All they need to do is make it work, and those minor changes I mentioned. So they don't have to create, just add, and make work.

what exactly is on time? many of "you" people were saying it would be out as soon as NV30 was released...

although i think most people believed it would be out next year, including Anand.

@Stealth Hawk

hehe yeah that is definetly true.
I still can hear people saying when NV30 hits the shelves a 0.13 R300 will be out soon.
Forget it people.
Timeframe for R350 in my opinion is end of Q2 2003.
In the long run the early 0.13 transition Nvidia did will have its benefits. Once NV30 is out Nvidia is very flexible concerning there whole product line due to 0.13 manufacturing and Nvidia is flexible concerning the NV35 refresh too.
I do not expect any delays with NV35 because until then they should have gained enough experiences with this process.

I think it's a case of cat and mouse changing roles!R300 eats gf4-nv30 eats r300-r350 eats nv30 and so on.It's a matter of who trips first. If a company loses a product cycle it will be hard to keep up with the other nd in the worst case senario we'll have the 3dfx story all over again.
I really don't want that as the competition will always benefit our pockets and push graphics tech faster.

If .13 is such a problem, what will happen with .09 process

that is not all , there is rumor going that R350 will have full hardware for DX 9.1 to compete with NV30 i guess

I think .13 should last for a little while at least...by the time anything better than .09 is needed there will most likely be a new tech available.

Hard to say. Intel is ready to introduce .09u with the Prescott line early next year, maybe even in January. But they and IBM are far ahead of many fabs with their tech.

Darn intel with .09 , AMD in some trouble , Pentium 4 gonna hit some high high cloaks 4GHZ - 5 maybe

I didn't think that .09 was coming that soon from Intel?

I think that it all depends on how fast the hammer is.
If it does outpace the Northwood, then yes we will see it early in the new year. If the hammer is only able to run close to the Northwood then my guess is we will see the Northwood clocked upto around 3.4GHz with hyperthreading, first and then later in the spring bringing out the Prescott.

lol@DX9.1

MS would be stupid to release it within 6 months of DX9. no one will be even using DX9 when 9.1 is out

Why in the world we need 9.1  anyways

MicroCrack could go stright to the DX 10 *drool*

dx 2 , 3 , 5 , 6 , 7 ,8 , 8.1 , 9.0 i womder is my map correct :p i know DX4 was never released

DX 9.1 is what DX10 was originally going to be actually
