View Full Version : Homeland (In)Security and Now This

Every stupid day in this country draws us closer to 1984.
I would cry "Viva la revolution!," but saying something like that, much less acting upon it, can get you labeled a terrorist faster than light.

he implies that with greater security, the potential for monitoring data increases. the bottom line is this is true, but you can't see they will do it for sure.
and of course add the old cliche, "you've gotta start somewhere" logic which implies this is only the beginning. ie, they will start with "critical infrastructure" then gradually envelop more and more systems until the whole internet in this country is "secure" aka controllable.

I highly doubt that will ever happen :(
Atleast I hope it wont..

I've seen this quote around and just thought I'd share it. And, since I've seen it on the net, I really need to check the validity of it I guess.

I think you guys need to start speaking out about this crap, its getting worse and worse. Your personal freedoms are been snipped away for the feeling of security. Perhaps its time to make full use of the 2nd ammendment lest you want your pledge to be...
I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the Corporate States of America,
and to the republic for which it once stood;
One nation under no God, divided,
With Liberty and Justice for the rich.
I don't see what you guys are complaining about. This all started back when social security was enacted. The ball was started rolling a long time ago. I think we all know where this will end up.
I have defended President Bush many times on this board but mind you I am Conservative not Republican, there for I do not trust any one in power.

The ball may have started rolling a long time ago but that is no reason to continue letting these actions get worse and worse.

I'd be flattered if the NSA wanted to look into my computer.:p

Come on. What are we using? DARPANET. That, friends, is the internet. Sorry to say. And would it not be foresight on their part to bug every computer on the face of the earth? Yes it would.
Have any of you read "The Puzzle Palace" by Bamford? In it lies the complete story of how and why we have such marvelous toys known as computers. And that it was and still is the ultimate espionage instrument.
:D
That's what I said to myself as well. I also thought about how flattered I would be once they look at my pr0n collection. ;) :D
I don't live in the USA but my guess is that the NSA would still look into my PC, am I correct?

I think the exact quote is this:
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Hey vamp - are you not in England? Can you cary a gun? Are you guilty until you prove yourself inocent when charged with a crime?
I do not mind the government looking for people trying to spread small pox or other such things in an airport or school. Nor do I mind that young islamic men that are in the USA Illegally are rounded up and shipped out. I don't care if they search them and there houses along the way.
Even with the agencies we have here we are still have more freedom than any other place.
I can carry a gun under my jacket. I can move about freely in my country. I don't mind that the airports stop me and search me. Some may consider that a loss of a freadom but who needs a gun or a knife when they are on a plain?
I don't care if Suddam Hussein destroys the world.
I don't care if Bin Laden spreads aids by having *you know what* with every person in the world.
;) :p

Didn't something happen last year that could have warranted people having guns on planes? If one or two would be hijackers had about 100 or so guns pointing in their faces as they attempt to take over a plane, they just might reconsider.

Nope all Handguns were banned after Dunblane

Funnily enough yes at times. The media now takes control of the verdict pumping public opinion with horror stories about the defendent therefore making sure he/she cannot have a fair trial under a jury.

What about if those young Islamic men have done nothing wrong? You wouldnt mind them kicked out of their country for doing nothing wrong?

Wow, I envy that. Many times I have thought wow I would like to shoot that son of a bitch. But I guess the government has taken away our "right" to carry weapons:rolleyes:

As long as you dont challenge the rich ;)
Actually you have the same freedoms as A LOT of other countries, you have no more freedom than anyone in Britain, Canada, France,Germany...the list goes on.

ALL western european countries have the same freedom as the united states btw. and unlike the usa we dont have a government willing to take away our essential freedoms and trade it for "security" (whatever thats supposed to mean) ... yet.
