the 13th race of the season, and the 4th race in perhaps the busiest month ever, the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring! :D

Toyota fastest: well, it's Zonta, the test driver, whilst Trulli and ralf are in 4th and 5th. Wurz and Kimi are in 2nd and 3rd for McLaren, whilst JPM is in 6th. Rubens in 7th, Alonso in 8th and Button in 9th. Schumie dod not record a time, admitting defeat for the championship (and it didn't help that his car crapped out). if McLaren can keep their cars together, things are looking good for them this weekend, as for Toyota, who have had an inconsistent season. DC in 13th, JV, who is still hopeful that he will be with Sauber-BMW next year (instead of Massa) was in 16th, followed by Sato and Massa. the BMWs were in 12th and 15th, with Heidfeld outperforming his teammate in practice.

some news:

the best driver in F1 (never to win a race) wanted to leave BAR last year, even though he was still under contract, and join Williams for this season. he was prevented form doing that, since he had a contract to race for BAR for one more year. now that the teams fortunes have changed, and Williams is likely to use Cosworth engines next year instead of BMW, and seems to be in decline, suddenly Button thinks the best thing for him to do is to stay at BAR, and has even offered to pay Williams $3.5 mill in order not to join his team:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_story.asp?ID=131596&hubName=auto_racing-formula_one

but, oh, what's this, now Sir Frank Williams says "A deal is a deal, A contract is a contract" and still wants Button. this couldn't happen to a better person:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_story.asp?ID=131793&hubName=auto_racing-formula_one

Kimi may be out of McLaren after next season if things do not improve for the team (namely the reliability issues). still, unlike Button, he will honour his contract. note to Button: a signed deal is a deal, stop whining and suck it up:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=131694

Schumie is encouraged by the practice sessions, but i wouldn't be. start building next year's car, and try to introduce it at the start of the season:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33644

Williams: an engine decision still two weeks away, but the rumour is Cosworth in 2006 and Toyota the next year:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=131785

the EU has banned tobacco ads and teams could face prosecution if they use subliminal messages (such as designs, symbols, colours, etc), because, as we all know, people are simpleminded fools, and anything we see on TV immediately compels us to buy buy buy. so, Ferrari's red, white and black design would have to be changed because those colours can be associated with a cigarette company. man, i need a Marlboro:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=131594 and British based teams could be fined:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=131594

Schumacher is back on pole for the first time the season, nearly 1 second ahead of JPM. question is: how light is his car on fuel? or is it a case of Ferrari and Bridgestone finally getting things right? this is his 64th pole, only one behind Ayrton Senna, who holds the record at 65. Trulli in 3rd could spoil the afternoon for everyone behind him if he decides to go on his traditional Sunday drive. Kimi in 4th, followed by Ralf and Alonso way back in 6th. Rubens in 7th and Button in 8th.

Kimi wins, Schumie 2nd and Ralf 3rd. none of the Renaults were in the points, so that's good news for McLaren and Kimi. both Toyotas scored (Trulli 4th), as did the BARs Button in 5th and Sato getting his first point of the season in 8th) and Williams-BMWs, who started far back the grid but managed to have a great race day. both Red Bulls were knocked out in rather spectacular fashion, Klien flipping after JV nudged his rear tire, and DC after smashing into Alonso's front wing which was littered on the track. all in all, a bad day for RBR.

Sort of "too good to be true" results since both the Renaults score zero points haha.

Seems to be an amazing qualifying time by Schumie since he managed to stay quite long before pitted. Although the Bridgestones tyres couldn't last for the whole race.

Get going Raikonnen!

It was an awesome race, I couldnt peel myself away to even go to the bathroom! Kimi embarrassed Schumie in performance. In 13 laps he had a 26.798 second lead. Kimi was blazing fast. JPM was just as fast, but he broke while leading! (what is it with McLaren and breaking while leading?) After Schumie's excellent pole time, during the race, that time didnt show. Kimi jumped to 2nd on lap 3, and just toyed with Schumie until the first pit stop. (Kimi and Michael were on same strategy). Kimi pitted first, came out in 4th. When Michael pitted, Kimi poured on the speed in buckets. lapping 2 seconds faster PER LAP! The announcers blamed Bridgestone.

Go Kimi!!!

Some interesting news during the race too. At Saturday midnight, the EU had the tobacco ban in effect, but Ferrari, Jordan, and 2 more (I cant remember) DID have their tobacco sponsors. West was gone from McLaren, for both reasons of tobacco ban, AND they parted ways. Look to have a gold and black McLaren at the next race.

race weekend fall-out: Massa to drive for Ferrari next year, as Rubens leaves, likely going to BAR, to replace Button, who will be dragged kicking and screaming to Williams-Cosworth (?), who replaces Heidfeld, who switches to Sauber (renamed BMW) to probably drive with JV, unless he's bought out:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33694

Rubens: lay off the rumours. hmm, i guess the Massa announcement will likely add fuel to the fire:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33679

Theissen blames Williams for the lack of the team's success, and that is a main factor why BMW decided to buy Sauber:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33693

three weeks until the inaugural Turkish Grand Prix, so i'm sure that this is only the start of the rumours! :D

Here's an additional read about Barrichello, in short, he's fed up. But I dont see the problem, he signed on KNOWING what his role was.
