View Full Version : So after 6 months, I finally got WoW...

I had a free 10-day trial from one of my old roommate's CE and I played it. I loved it so much, I ordered the CE on Amazon but ended up being scammed and the never even bothered to try buying the game again. By the time I got my refund, I hadn't played in almost a month and I just didn't see any point.
Well, I've been carpooling to work with my buddy Ryan. He didn't want me to, but I told him he had no choice: I was goign to give him $10/week for gas money. So he took it or whatever and said nothing of it.
Yesterday when we were riding home, he told me to reach under my seat. I was like, "Look, if this isn't a 47 carat rock, I don't don't want none of it." He laughed and I grabbed a box.
He bought me WoW. What a fag. Seriously. But whatever. I have the game and he used the $10/week I was giving him for gas to buy it, so in actuality: I bought the game.
Either way, I've got it now...but I haven't played Guild Wars in like 2-3 weeks and that's FREE. I just haven't had time/didn't want to, so now that I have this, which requires a monthly fee...I just don't know.
I'm sure I'll cave and play it though, but not until the new machine arrives. I only want to install this once.

I haven't installed it yet. I was thinking about doing it tonight, but I dunno...maybe this weekend?
And does anyone know how long accounts stay active/available? If I last played in mid-February, would that account still be alive, or is it dead by now?

Cool story man. I too, finally bought WoW. I was hardcore FFXI on my PS2, but it just became way too much of a grind for me. So I sold all my stuff off and took the cash, and it basically covered my 7 months of FFXI play. People have been harassing me that I get on WoW and now I finally got my uber rig, and I bought this past monday.
Jump onto to Shadow Moon with my bro and friends. I create an Orc Shaman cause it seemed alot like Thrall from Warcraft III, so I was like cool, lets do it. With in 20 minutes of playing, all my friends/guildmates are ragging the ever living hell out of because Shaman are for n00bs and are 'WoW on eazy!!1' How the hell was I suppose to know?!
The game is pretty easy, though. After only 3 hours of play, I'm level 10, only died once, and haven't needed to group yet. In my EQ/FFXI I probably would have died 10 times and taken me 5-7 hours to hit level 10.

The 1h swords in there are nice but don't really come close to Quel'Serrar for either tanking or for a fury build. I got bored of tanking all the time so I switched to a dual wield fury build and now I outdamage the damn rogues and mages in our Molten Core runs. :D
Considering I should be starting basic training this month I simply won't have the time for playing WOW anymore. I suppose I could always just freeze my account and see what the future brings, as it stands my raid guild is probably a minimum of 2 months of having enough well equipped members to tackle BWL.

I hear ya, I changed from protc and tanking to 31-5-15 It is friking awesome. I am axe speced for my reaper which I will get friday and I have the atributes in protc for my armor and such. It makes me much tougher to kill but I have ALL the arms and crits up the wazooo. For a warrior with valor and just a doomsaw I am alomst always 2nd or 3rd in the raid in DPS. I also tank with the doomsaw. It drive people crazy who haven't raided with me. They tell me to learn how to roll a warrior and that I should have shield and 1h for tanking. I reply "in UBRS and Baron" that is kiddie stuff" You only need 1h and shield for drac, the rest are easy and even drac will kill you with fire spamming not melee. I wish casters would just shut up and heal me. They don't know squat about us warriors who have been tanking for a very long time.

Not all warriors play the tanking role, as I said I out damage rogues and mages with my current spec, And whilst axe spec does give pvp advantages I will continue to wipe the floor with 2h spec warriors. :D

I'm a DWing Fury warrior, planing to go 38/40 Fury, 10/11/13 Arms or Protection, haven't decided just yet [doesn't really matter, stance dancing and weapon swaps are getting nerfed next patch, so tactical mastery and improved overpower just lost alot of their appeal]. What I do know is I'm currently lvl 28, all points in fury, and I rape everything. I'm a freaking rage battery, go to 100 in 5 seconds, then I use a macro that switches me to my honking 2her and cleave cleave cleave cleave. I clear instanes insanely fast using this combo, DW for rage buildup, switch to slow 2her for maximum cleave damage. Most of the time I'm generating so much rage I don't have enough decent skills to dump it on, I just stay stuck at 100 spamming heroic strike.

Mages need some love imo the most. Probably the most broken class in wow.
