Once again let me say my Sys specs, XFX 7800GTX OCED, WIN XP, AMD 3700+, Asus A8N-Sli-Deluxe, 2 GB Corsair Ram W\Activity Leds, Aspire Turbo Case, and 500w Maddog, I'm making a NEW thread since some other guy took over my thread with his problems lol, I'm hearing about people getting +10000 on 3dmark 05 with Geforce 7800's but I only get 8328 or so.... Is there a reason for this aka is my card a defect\bad one? the stock speed is supposed to be 490/1300 but I can't even check... anybody know how to check what the card truely is at right now? Thanks! P.S. Doom 3 runs horrible with AA or AF on.... Same with Farcry, HL2 runs fine but I don't think AA and AF even come on! P.S. I have all the latest drivers

You won't get more than around 8400 3DMarks without overclocking the card a lot or going SLI. Your score is normal for a single 7800GTX.

Since you're expecting 10000+ in 3Dmark 05, it is probably safe to assume that you have your card dipped in liquid Nitrogen. Have you checked to see if the supply valves are clogged up? Also make sure there are no leaks in your compression chamber. What are your temperature readings like? The GPU should be running at around ~5 Kelvin.

Crikey I get 11,000 with 2 GTXs!!! 8000 is normal for a single card with overclocking! 3Dmark2k5 is totally vertex limted as Chrisray investigated and found out.

I get 11,000 at default with SLI. With 4XAA and 16XAF on, I get 10,080! :) These are with 2 GTXs in SLI with no optimisations on!

you could download "coolbits"

it adds overclocking in the card options and will show you where you are currently

If you're doing bad, im horrible. I had to OC my p4 3.4 to 4.0 and OC my already OC'd BFG7800GTX to 484/13400 just to barely break the 8000 mark.

Without those OC's i was around 7200

People have told me that it's my p4 holding me back and I'd do better with an AMD.

Ok I guess I was just paranoid, This is the first computer build I've ever done and I've NEVER spent more than 220$ on a card lol, I can't seem to get Half Life 2 to turn on AA and AF for some odd reason..... anybody else had that problem?
P.S. The 3dmark testing was done on Default Demo mode with 1000x678 and no aa or af on..

That score is perfect. A stock 7800GTX gets around 8K marks.

OK why isnt my comp getting that at stock or even OC'd

p4 3.4
2 gig RAM
ASUS P5GDC
7800 GTX
Audigy 2 ZS
------------
at stock 7122

OC'd to p4 4.0 and 7800 OC'd to 484/1340 I score 8034 or so...

Why arent I getting the 8300 this guy is?

My specs:

Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD FX-53
Gigabyte 7800GTX
1 gig Corsair XMS LL PC3200

Everything at stock I get 7741.

If I bump the fsb up to 210 and the card to 490/1300 I get 8034 (same as you kwynjunk).

Try setting antialiasing and anisotropic filtering to application controlled in the driver control panel and then select the levels you want in-game.

Please note, even though it is shown as an option in-game, you cannot select 6X Antialiasing. It does nothing. Do not use it. Trust me. It was left in because a VERY old driver had 6X as an option, but has since been removed by Nvidia.

Really? Weird I thought Max Payne and Max payne II thrived on AA, so is AF the new thing? Because even with that enabled I can't see a difference ingame... with the Screenshots that Valve had of hl2 I can tell you with everything maxed out it looks NOTHING like the screenies do lol P.S. should I be able to run Doom 3 with AA and AF on max settings? Cuz I can't.. lol

I just downloaded NVTWEAK and found out that from the Oc program that my settings were clocked at 1300\275 when it was supposed to be 1300\490 so I boosted it up manually to 1300/490, gain in fps on stresstest was about 10 fps :-) I also changed the Settings to Peformance (3D) in the OC program because for some odd reason it was on 2D (Standard)

Its your P4. I tested a system with dual 7800GTX's and a 775 3.8GHz and it did not even break 10K.

P.4.'s compare HORRIBLE to AMD Chips, a 3500+ overpowers a 3.4 ghz even though it run's on a 2.2 ghz frequency, THAT I know lol, Heck the 1ghz T-Bird ran better than my P-4 2.8 ghz lol, However I must say.. the P-5 Dual Cores are going to kill amd sadly :( Anyway I just did another test on 3dmark 05 I got 8383 now.... still good I guess lol

Do those p5 dual cores come in socket 775?

Would they work with my mobo?

Revolutionx

No they don't, it dosen't really matter anyway when they come out DX10 will be out and we will all have to get new mobo's and gpu's anyway lol since the one's we have right now won't be able to support dx10.
