ive been searching for the right headphones that are both comfortable and performing for gaming. Sennheiser seems to be the product of choice...but i'm not sure which model is best quality/$$. the hd580 are $100 more than the hd570. should i splurge and get the 580s for $250US >:-)

If you're gonna get the 580s, you might as well get the 600s. Best damn pair of headphones I've EVER heard, bar none. :p

the 600s are $450US. I live in Canada...way too expensive...especially since im also getting a new Syncmaster 1200NF. but i can appreciate how amazing they must sound!

While I would agree on getting the HD600, the 580 doesnt sound that much worse and can be found for $125. The 570's sound great, but to some may sound to bright. I dunno if the soundcards can drive these headphones very well (580/600) as they do have a high impendance rating, you may want to also pick up a headphone amp if you do decide to purchase either one. The 570 can be easily driven by a soundcard.

is the headphone jack on the z560s strong enough to power the hd580 adequately?

Not sure, it might be enough to drive the 580's, ive heard ppl using HD600's on the Promedia's headphone out with no problem.

I can use the HD600s on my headphone jack on my SBLive Plat 5.1 front bay with no problems whatsoever.
