Or you could just get some other brand for $499 and flash it to 490/1300 easily.

Go ahead and try. I think eVGA's cooler on this card might give it a slight advantage over another card being flashed to 490/1300, but go ahead and try. A lifetime warrenty on 490/1300 sounds even better on this

Whats underneath that shroud, from the looks of it it just looks like the stock cooling solution with a shroud.

Finally, a worthy company offers a lifetime warranty to compete with BFG.

Too bad the warrantly is retroactive only for 7800 cards. The new program will retroactively begin June 22nd, 2005, extending lifetime coverage to the newly released retail GeForce 7800-based graphics cards.

Retroactive for all retail cards from June 22nd

Which means all EVGA 7800GTX are covered even those who bought at launch, and all other EVGA retail cards bought from that date.

:D

Man, who comes up with these names

Perhaps they should have a picture of Mike Tyson on the heatsink. ;)

That is really awesome of EVGA. I still remain a hard-core BFG fan, but this does expand the choices a bit.

XFX had 490 / 1300 cards out for a while now ! , probably all cards can OC to those numbers with decent cooling.

Nice! I bought my cards before June 22nd though :( I probably will not keep them for a year though ;)

That sucks. Couldn't you use eVGA's step up program though? Since they cost the same it wouldn't hurt you at all, and you'd get a lifetime warenty on 2 overclocked cards. That would be awesome

So glad I have been staying my hand on purchasing a 7800. These look very nice indeed. I might have to grab two.
