About time!!
F.E.A.R. is an intense first person close-quarters combat experience with rich atmosphere and an engaging, paranormal horror storyline. The single player demo will feature one level, combining intense and exhilarating action and pulse-quickening paranormal chills, giving players a true taste of what F.E.A.R holds in store for them this fall. We will of course have the FEAR demo available on our fileserver network, Friday 10am PST.

It runs great on my system with at max settings @1280x1024 with 2xAA/2xAF so don't worry.

It may be better optimized... it doesn't say anything about that demo being a beta...

Higher resolutions kill the Multi beta.. so if you run 1600x1200 its difficult to get good FPS...

Should be the first game to make 7800 GTX show it's real colors. Can't believe i haven't gotten mine yet.

Yeah i hope to see the SP demo gets better coding & optimizing after experiancing the MP beta.
in some places of the built-in benchmark i was getting an extermely low min.framerate even on dual 7800GTXs!

Awesome, looking forward to trying out the single-player on this. The multiplayer was surprisingly fun (mainly because I just love running around and killing everyone in one hit from a well-placed melee attack), I'm anxious to try the single-player. The setting seems interesting, the sci-fi horror theme seems different from other games of it's type.

As far as the performance goes, I found it acceptable. Without soft-shadows, the multiplayer beta ran fine for me at 1024x768 with 4xAA/lvl16 aniso on my 6800ultra-level card.

Update - 02,08 19:00 o'clock * Just the official press release arrived with us. The demo is to be large full 700MB and contain a "mix OD level. Speak a level which in the final product one will not in such a way contain. The Singleplayer demo should be available starting from Friday, 5 August at 19:00 o'clock (MEZ) on the official homepage whatisfear.com. Well I'm certainly looking forward to this. I just saw this news at the Shack and figured I'd post it here, but... beat me to it :)

No 6600GT in the Supported Chipsets, this seems to apply to a few games although the 6600GT would be able to play it being similar if not better than the 9800Pro

Hmm, strange they would support the Geforce 4 and up, yet not the ATI 8500/9000 series. Kinda the opposite of Battlefield 2, heh. Also it's odd that the multiplayer beta required Windows XP, yet the single-player demo supports Windows 2000 as well.

What's the Director's Edition of the game though?

Unless I'm having a brain-fart, I don't see the 7800 GTX on that list either. Don't think it's the most comprehensive list they could have compiled, I'm sure plenty of unlisted GPUs will work.

Don't worry about performance, I ran the MP demo at 1280x1024 4xaa 8xaf w/ soft shadows off on my 6800GT.

Gah, this is a really bad time to be in between upgrades. :(

I'd say the 8500/9000 series is too slow. Trust me, I would know. *points to sig*

April Edition? The only thing I could find on the DX site is some April update for the SDK. Is this what they're talking about?

I remember reading that the BF2 Demo had an update for DX 9.0c.
