Apple is finally getting their act together. First Intel processors, now a multi button mouse. And the 360 scroll ball wheel looks like it could really be useful. If this thing worked on a PC I might buy it.

"If this thing worked on a PC I might buy it."

Straight from the tech page:

System Requirements: Mac OS X (programmability requires Mac OS X v10.4.2 Tiger or later), or Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

I'd guess the buttons just have their default functions on the PC, just as they would with older versions of OS X. Dang, that's just slick.

i may actually get one. I hope they come out with a wireless version. That + optimus keyboard would be the perfect combination.

Apple continues to innovate, can't wait to see one of these in action.

Did Apple seriously invent the multi-button mouse? Or are they stealing from someone else again.

It reminds me of the IBM Thinkpad "stick" mice. I loved the stick in my old Thinkpad laptop.

I think he is referring to the miniball and pressure sensitive buttons allowing for a "no button" look.

Saying apple innovated would be like saying the Chinese innovated if they finally started eating with forks. It's not innovation, it's finally getting with the damned program after years and years of stupidity.

but you gotta admit, this mouse is a good bit more than "getting with the program." If this was wireless, I would go as far to say it's the best mouse out there. Certainly the best looking.

Looks pretty sweet but I won't buy one until I get a desktop system next year.

Haha, I gave my gaming PC to my mom and it was having problems with "Quickbooks 2004". I got bored waiting for it to finish a backup and I started playing some CS:S.

I got to try one out, the logitech MX series pwnz these mice. They still have an awful optical engine, the scrolling just isn't nearly as smooth as using the wheel either.

I'm sure Apple can refine this mouse some, but on this iteration it's a miss. I won't be using one.

Here's a really good video review too.

Yea thats what I meant, Rip quit being a smarta$$ lol :D :p

thx for the link oldsk00l, didn't realize Apple still had probs w/ their optical engine. Did you try it out on a Mac or PC, maybe its a driver issue?

ya know

for reals, I can't believe the press is getting over Apple doing a decent mouse for once...

If anything it should be a giant blackmark that it took them decades to put out a productive mouse.
