deceided to play with h.264
anyways 720p is deadly to my machine try installing quicktime 7 beta http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/preview/
and try running the 720p videos off apples page here=>>http://www.apple.com/quicktime/hdgallery/
tell my if both cores go to 100%. my single core cpu did and the video was jerky.

It was smooth, though it seems as though the framerate drifted below 24fps a couple of times.
This was pretty much peak usage during the space shuttle 720p, though it was normally around 45%. This shows that the background applications that make your system's playback choppy are taken up by the dual core.

And I tried a few of the lower res movie traliers and got around 30% usage...

i can play 720p totally smooth now with my 4400...with my 3200 it was all jerky and ****...

Is the h.264 multithreaded, looking at brianG's results it seems not.
I dont think the apple codec is both doesn't mean someone else won't make a multi threaded h.264 codec.
People with a 7800GTX should just try the 80.40 drivers =]
Although it will be support in the D80s' they are not supported in the current beta forms.

the 80.40 are too early of beta drivers.
