I've been thinking of upgrading to socket 939 for awhile, and what with AMD's recent announcement of price cuts, I decided to look harder at pricing on the web. I was surprised to find out how non-competitive Newegg was in several cases. Anyways, heres some data I put together on pricing (US$) as of today...

CHIP AMD NEWEGG MWAVE MONARCH
X2 4800 902 NA 970 1042
X2 4600 704 795 725 745
X2 4400 537 699 579 670
X2 4200 482 529 495 515
X2 3800 354 405 388 409
4000+ 375 474 374 380
3700+ 272 323 271 290

(sorry I couldnt get the columns to align...dunno how).

I was really stunned to see the X2 4400 at MWave for $579...

...$120 less than Newegg! I lust for that processor.

I've looked at some of the ratings for MWave and they look decent. Anyone have any experience with them worth sharing?

newegg charges high prices when stuff first comes out. Mwave is good, I used them before I found newegg. normally Mwave is high priced then newegg.

Monarch is a badass place to buy from. They are always fast and good with service too. I buy bulk for my company through them when my distributor does not have something (as they cut damn good deals)... very cool people.

for me newegg is better and cheaper. if monarch prices were as low as newegg I'd use them more.

Mwave is dependable in my dealings with them. ;)
I would pick them next after newegg if I am looking for something in particular. Wish I could have waited and ordered my 3700 from them...good prices on AMD processors.

newegg is slow ... and in most cases higher priced on all items I buy. I know people who have even gotten the wrong things from them.

The only thing I hate about NewEgg is that if, say, you're buying a $2 fan and shipping is $4 for it...they charge you $4 for EACH fan. I can't believe they can get away with that...it's completely ridiculous. $4 to ship a fan is ridiculous enough as it is, but $20 shipping for 5 fans...you've gotta be sucking me off.

Why not just grab the 4400+ for 570? :)

A friend of mine got a SATA disc drive from mwave. It came with someone's broken connector stuck to it and had obviously been used. They did exchange the item.

Newegg is my preferred vendor but I will go elsewhere if they are overcharging on the item.

Mwave has been around for a very long time.. going on 10 years or so. They have always been fast and reliable anytime i've delt with them, though I must admit I don't deal with them as much as I used to. I used them almost exclusively before Newegg was around.

I already ordered a Athlon 64 X2 4400+ OEM at lowest price of 341 with free CoolerMaster heatsink fan at xtsit.com (http://www.xtsit.com/). I saved around up to near 100 on retail version. That translate to $606.
