Apprently all the DVDs from the newly released BTTF movies are defective. The second and third DVD are not in widescreen, but instead "masked" Full screen versions. There is a "full" screen version, but apparently those are fine since they are in pan and scan anyways. All the sound is reportedly messed up as well on teh DVDs. I will watch mine tomorrow and see exactly what is the deal, but it is all over the net.

It pisses me off that companies will not admit thier mistakes. They are offering a replacemnet, but the copies in the stores will remain the same. So if you didn't know, you would be buying messed up DVDs, and be wondering why things are just missing or remembered different. Its a shame since it is a great movie.

It takes 3 ******* years for this movie to get it out on DVD and they still find a way to screw it up.

I was talking to friend about it, and he is saying at least they are replacing them. Many movies do have problems and nothing happens because most people chose to live them because it is easier that way and the small voice gets drowned out in the mass production arena. However, in this example, it is a pretty big mistake.
Anyway, I will watch all mine and then send them back for the fixed editions. Of course since most people let things slide, eventually the new editions will be worth more on ebay! :)
I loved that movie. I even had the skate board.

Apperantly the only way to get the corrected DVDs is be sending back broken ones, which of course makes you wonder how long will they keep the offer available. You might need to still get the discs now and have to send them back. Its so stupid. They should just do an offical recall.

Thinking about picking up that Back to the Future trilogy box set this week for a stocking stuffer? You may want to hold off on that. Amid numerous consumer complaints over noticeably misframed shots in the widescreen edition of Parts II and III of the trilogy, Universal Studios Home Video announced yesterday that they will be repressing the discs with corrected framing, and these repressed versions will be included in all future runs of the box set.
While the shots - some of which ruin crucial jokes and visual gags - may be relatively minor to some, what to do if you've already picked up the set and want the corrected versions? A Universal spokesperson has told us that consumers unhappy with the current version (widescreen only - the full frame edition is not affected) can call the Universal Studios Home Video Consumer Hotline at (888) 703-0010 to request an exchange. While repressed versions of discs 2 and 3 (disc 1 remains unaffected) won't be available until February, Universal will provide corrected versions to those who have already purchased the set. Consumers will need to send the discs back to Universal at their own expense. Stay tuned for any further updates as the story develops...

I'm so mad because the BTTF trilogy are my 3 favorite movies of all time. I always said to my friends (before these DVDs became available) could put Killer Clowns from Outer Space on DVD but not BTTF?!?!
In fact, I'm such a big fan of the movies, I had the license plate number "BTTF 88" on my old Dodge Aries. Man, that was the day. :D

There are 3 movie trilogy MIA. BTTF which is now out, but broken, The original Star Wars, and of course the Indiana Jones movies.
Hopefully, the BTTF fiasco will help studios companies WATCH the movies for mistakes before releasing them.

Because a used DeLorean in good condition costs between $30-$50k.
They only made about 8,000 of 'em y'know and have notoriously bad reliability. Take way its awesome looks and you have an overall poor vehicle.

In 1997 I saw one on a lot in Santa Clara, CA for $40K. Salesguy said it had a Volvo engine in it with 50K mile warranty. It looked sweet, but my friend who was searching for a car decided on a Subaru. Sometimes I wish I had had $40,000 that day.

You can get them nowadays in the US for about 10 to 15 thousand depending on condition.
I keep thinking I will get one, but it is still more money than I have for a splurge item.

$10-15k for a car you may have to put another thousands of dollars of work into. DeLoreans have a great engine, but the rest of the powertrain and other components were of very poor quality.
