I'm not even sure 256 MB 6600 GT cards themselves exist. You can get PCI-E 6800 cards with 256 MB of RAM. EVGA, MSI and others make them. They cost right around $200-220 and are clocked at about 300/600. Yes it's gimped compared to the clock speeds of a 6600 GT, but you get a full 256-bit, 256 MB card.

That Palit card isn't a GT as it uses TSOP memory instead of BGA like every other card. The Gigabyte is their proprietary design of 2 GPUs on one card that requires their motherboard to operate. There have been reviews of the latter posted online if you search.

Graphic on the front page we have a search function. If it doesn't show up as a news post most likely we aren't going to know who has a review if Google and our news section doesn' show a link. ;)

I'm gonna say it again - 256 MB 6600 GT cards probably don't even exist. If no manufacturer hasn't come out with one by now, they never will. They made 6800NU cards with 256 MB but no 6600 GT.

There are a few 256mb 6600GTs. XFX makes one I believe.

From what I understand, 256MB doesn't make any difference over 128MB on a 6600.

Well kiss my grits, XFX does indeed make one. But I've never seen it for sale as none of the major shopping sites list it.

Seeing as how the 6600GT only has a 128 bit wide memory controller, getting a 256 meg card would probably just be a waste of money.

Nope. Games such as Battlefield 2 and FEAR would run much smoother with 256mb of memory. Those require 512mb cards (or 2GB of system memory) to run perfect. Just imagine how bad 128mb of memory would be.

Not really. Thats like saying that there is no point to having more than 1GB of PC2700 becuase its slower than PC3200.

I found one, but its from a home user:

This gainward card is an amazing card!!!!! the core gpu speed is set to 1050mhz with the gddr3 2.0ns samsung memory on this card provides very good performence in games like half life 2 and far cry at 1280x1024 2aa 2af or in my opinion the better looking mode of 1024x768 4aa 8af. the 1024x768 with more aa and af looks superior to the other resolution and above besides the difference in these two resolutions in minimal even with everything at max setting and aa and af turned on. The only thing i dont like about the card is the lack of a decent software bundle but at this price for such a high end card i really can,t complain besides performance is more important overall. Score 9/10

Apparently from user reviews it boosts about 200 points+ in 3d mark. At techimo's forums you can check it out. I am too lazy to post a link...
