I have just installed and run 3dMARK 05 on my p.c and i got a score 6994. At stock speeds of 430 core and 1.2 memory.

I have comapred other results and i should be getting a higher score than this.

The test was run with AA and AF set on app pref in the driver control panel. All other settings are on max quality.

I have only recently installed this card as i had an ATI x800 xt (5950 score in this test)

Can anybody give me advice on why my score is so low?

I used driver cleaner pro to get rid of any ATI related stuff prior to installing this card.

Is there something I should have done before installing this card (i.e motherboard drivers, direct x etc.)

Many thanks in advance.

Thats about right. Compare your scores to other intel CPU's. Not A64's.

as long as your games run fine I wouldnt worry about it....it's just a benchmark, dont drive yourself mad over it. :)

How very true...Thank you for reminding me to enjoy the games instead of worrying about benchmarks.

heh, I was the same way when I first got my 6800 gt last year....I was getting 10fps less in one lousy test vs. everyone else.....I got obessed over it...now I look back like...wtf was the point....my games run flawless, thats all that matters! ;)

Make sure all the settings on nvidia control panel are on default. What timings are your system ram on? value ram and high end ram have a big differance on fps.

your score seems right.
my rig is very simialr to yours, at stock speeds i scored 7122. My 7800GTX is a bfg so it's factory overclocked to 460/1300.

That may explain why my score is a little higher.

On a positive note, after oc'ing my processor 3.4 to 4.0, and the graphics card to 490/1340, is score 8216.

Also, when i replaced my ram with ddr2(the p5gdc supports both ddr and ddr2) it scored higher. But these guys are right. even though i scored better in benchmarks, my games were running fine on high settings from the start.
I see no difference in actual gaming.

How the hell anyone really think they can see the differnce of 60fps to 90fps is beyond me.

Before running the benchmark, turn OFF AA and AF and set the "performance and quality" settings in the nVidia control panel to "high performance".

1000 points in epenis05 in the real world equates to less than 10fps in most games at a resolution you'd be playing with a GTX. Turn drivers to high performance in the app and turn off anything you'd actually use in gaming, then the score will go up a bit. But seriously, relax and go play some BF2 cranked to the max and tell me if your card is defective :D
