The X850XT-PE is an extremely fast card, even w/ SM3.0.Cough..was...cough...but not now, not for $400 at the very lowest on pricewatch with the average being over $500...cough....7800GTX/GT give it a terrible raping and is easily had at a lower price...cough...
no sm3.0 for the x800 series.... :D

It's not SM3 per se. Now HDR...... Looks nice.

Sorry, the X800 series can not run SM3.0, thus it cannot be compared to the GF6 series when using SM3.0. The X800 series doesn't EVER use SM3.0 in ANY game out as of now. The first will be HL2 LostCoast because Valve is implementing a method where the X800 will utilize SM2.0 to get HDR effects. The set back, either lower image quality than actual HDR on SM3.0, or a performance hit.
So, where as my 6800GT CAN do HDR with SM3.0 and the X850XT PE CANNOT DO HDR (save for LostCoast), I think I made a good choice. Oc this 6800GT to beyong Ultra speeds and ANY performance difference between the X850XT PE and my 6800GT would be marginal in terms of FRAMES PER SECOND.
On a side note, I'm hoping to have a new mobo as well with a 7800GT. If I'm pleased with the XFX6800GT, then I'll go with an XFX 7800GT round the end of this month or next month. Can't wait! ;) :-D :-D
