Hello all.
I'm interested in water cooling my system. Been hunting all around for info on water cooling this card.
The Zalman system seens more than suitable, and states that any card with 3mm mounting hole is suitable.
1. Does anyone have details on removing the heatsink & fan on an FX4000?
2. Has anyone sucessfully water cooled a Quadro card?
All help would be great.
Thanks in advance

Personally, in my opinion (which you can judge, its up to you what you want to do), I don't think you should waste expensive* water cooling on an FX4000...
* = I say expensive, because the les expensive ones can give you major problems in the long-run.
Instead of paying 200 bucks on a water cooling kit, might i suggest upgrading to at least a 5200 FX ? and if you dont have the proper cooling for your PC after upgrading your video card, look into Antec Power Supplies. They cool down your PC great and offer great power for your PC at a price and $60.00. Do some shopping around. If you are considering maknig drastic changes to your computer, THEN think about water cooling.
oh yes, and if u stick with the FX 4000, ask Nvidia what heatsink would be compatible with it, instead of wasting a fortune on watercooling.
hope some of this helps. oh yes, try these websites if you hav ent already...
www.newegg.com <-- offers the best deals, quote from mySimon
www.tigerdirect.com
EDIT: oh, i didnt know u were in UK, becuz newegg, sadly :(, doesnt ship internationally...im not sure about tiger direct though, they might.

mx125race Thank you for the reply.
I got the FX4000 because it came on Ebay for £350 ($630), brand new these are £1400 ($2530). Also My profession is in 3D design. The idea of water cooling was to get rid of all the noisy fans in my system, Mainly the CPU fan. To achieve this I'm thinking of using the Zalman Noiseless RESERATOR 1 Plus. This kit comes with a GPU block and seems more than capable of cooling a PSU aswell so it seems like a good kit as a whole.
I think the best idea would be to contact NVidia/PNY to find out if this is possible as I don't want to bugger up my card.
Also with the crappy weather in the UK these passive cooler should work great, unlike you jammy sods in CA, well atleast there is one bonus for being in the UK!!!!
Try to find a source for how much wattage the FX4000 takes in comparison to the 6800GT/U and 7800 series.
My rig is cooled (CPU, GPU) with the reserator 1 (the blue one) and the zalman GWB2 for the cpu block and an innovatek for the GPU.
You should also forget cooling the PSU (power supply), install a silent psu like the 400W Nexus instead, they are whisper quiet when the rest of the innards of your pc dont heat it up (reserator takes the heat outside). With GPU and CPU cooled by the reserator my rig is the quietest I've ever heard, and I've built several quiet systems.
The reason I dont like the idea of PSU water cooling is that then you need to install extra fans to the case because the motherboard, hard drive etc are all sweating inside the case. Unless you take the side panels off..
But I think your biggest concern would be that the old simple zalman GPU block cannot pass enough heat to work on a 6800 series, but I dont know about the newer model. So you would have a hard time finding a gpu block for your quadro?

I'm forgetting that the RESERATOR takes the heat away from the case. As for the PSU, I have a quiet Hiperpower 18 DB unit, but never heard how quiet it is as everything else is so noisey!!
I think I'll upgrade my case to a Thermaltake Shark, And the RESERATOR. I'll see how quiet the system is and in the mean time find out the information on the Quadro Card. I'd like to get my hands on a dead one to do some trail fitting.
Any more advise would be great, so thank you all for your input.
