I can't seem to get my Geforce FX 5200's DVI port working properly. I have a Dell 2005FPW and I want to use the DVI input. When I hook up the DVI and disconnect the vga cable, I don't get anything. Even if I reboot, I don't even see the bios messages if the DVI is connected and the vga disconnected.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? The monitor says the DVI is a DVI-D. I assume that the DVI out on the 5200 is the same?

Thanks for any help!

You might want to try a different card, like a Ti4 series that has quality DVI output. The FX5200 is a budget card and your display is a higher end one.

I have the same monitor & card,
Which works fine,
Is there any possibility you didn't shift the input select button to show 2
(vga is on 1, DVI on 2)
Cheers

Any reason why you believe the 5200 does not have "quality" DVI output? The 5200 is cheap because it has horrible gaming performance, but I do not believe it would cut corners in tasks that it was primarily built for -- multimedia, DVD playback, etc.

I have (had) the same problem with a AGP FX5200 DVI. Earlier this month I purchased a new Dell FP1905 LCD which supports both VGA and DVI input. I could not get the FX5200 DVI output to work with the FP1905. I thought I had a defective FP1905. I tried everything, but nothing would get the FX5200 and FP1905 combo to output Digital. BTW- VGA worked fine! :)
So I bit the bullet and purchased a new AGP FX6600. The reason I bought the new FX6600 was to eliminate the Display as the problem. (really I wanted a better graphics card) Voila!!, DVI worked on the new FX6600! I did not change drivers (NV 77.77) or MB BIOS All I did was install the new AGP FX6600 card. :)
