after a 3 week hiatus, the F1 circus returns, this time for the inaugaral Turkish Grand Prix! :D

preview:http://www.formula1.com/race/news/3444/745.html

some news:

in a stunning turn of events, Williams has decided to end their relationship with BMW, and will use ..... Cosworth engines next year! well, colour me surprised, i didn't see that one coming, especially since they've been talking about that deal for months now. in another shocker, Barrichello will leave Ferrari, and any chance of success, to become second fiddle to a driver that isn't even comparable to Schumacher, namely Sato, as he joins BAR next year. it looks like Button is the odd man out, unless he is successful in his latest temper tantrum and somehow manages to break his contract with Williams, with whom he is supposed to drive with in 2006:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=133650
and:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=133549
and:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33786

JV expects be back at Sauber (aka BMW) next year, as he has a two year contract. the German auto company will want a native to drive for their likely, likely to be Heidfeld who is currebtly with Williams:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_story.asp?ID=133844&hubName=auto_racing-formula_one as well, JV will drive the role of his father in an upcoming movie based on the life of the late Gilles V:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=133554

Schumie is ready to go for the Turkish race, but will his car be up to the test?http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33779

race officials have increased security measures, just in case some nutbar decides to prove that evolution skipped several generations:http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns15403.html

Fisichella: step backwards moving to Renault? as long as Briatore and Alonso are there, he will be never be the star of the team:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=133767

an F1 race in Romania? South Africa? uhh, no to the first, a maybe for the second location. does F1 really need to go to more third world nations? are they chasing tobacco sponsorship dollars, since they can no longer advertise their brands in Europe and North America? i wonder if Europe, where the core support for F1 resides, will turn its back on a series that is moving further away from it's European roots:http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns15376.html and:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=132521

this is shaping out to be a McLaren weekend. if you discount Zonta's Toyota, since he's a test driver, and de la Rosa (also a McLaren), JPM and Kimi occupy the top spots. BAR's Button is quick, beating Sato in 10th, as are both Renault's. Toyota's Trulli and RBR's Liuzzi also made it into the top 10. where are the Ferraris? Schumie is in 13th, right in front of JV who was ahead of Massa, and Rubens was in 15th, ahead of Ralf. Webber was a lot quicker then Heidfeld (11th and 19th). as usual, the Jordans and Minardis occupied the rear of the field.

qualifying is tomorrow, 6 AM EST. :)

Kimi gets the pole, followed by Fisichella and Alonso. JPM in 4th, Trulli in 5th. the rest of the top 10 include, in order, Heidfeld, Webber, Massa, Ralf S. and Klien. big disappointments for JV and Schumacher, who both spun out at the same spot (turn 8) and didn't record times. BAR's Button also struggled, as did Sato, and they'll start 13th and 14th, instead of being near the top of the grid (also had turn 8 issues).

Monteiro is an idiot, he should be banned from ever racing again in F1. People that watched know what I'm talking about.

Banned ? Why ? As long as there are teams willing to pay for that moron, good for him. ;)

I personally think that he should drive no better than a ****ty Minardi, but that's just me... :D

Anyway, great race. Raikkonen would definetely deserve the Championship, if it wasn't for the first (****ty) half (but it was McLaren's fault, not his one, imho). Alonso is a great pilot nonetheless, and he demonstrated once again that he has a much more "champion" brain than most of the other big players. :)

Why do the authorities put up with him is my question. He won't let people lap him, he constantly ignores blue flags indicating he should step aside. Today, all the front runners had to change their driving lines to get by him since he wouldn't move out of the way, plus he managed to knock out a Minardi and a McLaren. For a Minardi it's not much, but for the McLarens that are fighting for both the Drivers and the Constructors championship, it's a crucial loss.

Nice race overall, too bad McLaren won't be able to come back from their bad spell of the first half of the season. Renault are too stable a team to screw up.

great race for Kimi, and almost a 1-2 for McLaren, if JPM didn't go off and allow Alonso to pass and gain the valuable 2 extra points in the championship. it's too bad that Kimi has had reliability issues with his McLaren because if he had greater reliability he would likely be leading the championship, rather then trailing Alonso. BAR's Button had an impressive race, strating well off and finishing 5th, behind Fischella. too bad for Button that the team he'll likely be with next year is in such great turmoil--both Williams BMWs suffered multiple right rear tire blowouts, and were forced to retire lest they tempt fate. others in the points were the Toyota of Trulli, and both Red Bulls, with DC edging out his teammate for the 7th spot.

the big losers are the Williams drivers, again, who can't seem to do anything right. and then there's Schumacher who was punted out of the race in a collison with webber, only to come back later to run a few laps to help his qualy position in the next race. Massa, beibg too aggressive (pumped at the move to the lameduck Ferrari team next year?) made an error at the start that dropped him to the back of the grid, and eventually out of the race. JV, meanwhile, finished in 11th, behind Sato in 9th, Rubens and ahead of Ralf, and drove an uneventful race (i think we saw him only once).

the next race is in two weeks, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza! :D

"Likely" would be leading the championship? hmm...he has dropped out of 4 races, 3 while leading, and one while 2nd. He would definetly be leading the championship if McLaren had the reliability :D

How come it is never his fault when he does something stupid ? Monteiro hit me from behind. I had the sun in the eyes. The track suddenly changed and I faced an unexpected turn. My mom called me and told me dinner was ready. Blah. Mediocre driver, with an immense ego. Blah.

Blah.it's never his fault because JPM is a whiney byatch. he is more of a brand name then an actual successful race driver.
