Hello everyone, I plan on upgrading my card I have right now due to it being real bad lol, I just bought this computer 3 or 4 weeks ago for the summer and the specs are

AMD Athlon 3500
1 gig memory
ati radeon xpress
pci express

Anyway I know the new cards are coming out soon but I have miss out on a lot of good PC games, Rome Total war, Doom 3, Far Cry, Half Life 2 ect and plus once I start school I won't be playing as much.

Question is what do you guys think of this card?

If you're going to go for a 256MB 6800 I'd suggest biting the bullet and going for a 6800GT, since you can't unlock the pipes on the PCI-E 6800's (NV41 GPU). It certainly blows away your integrated graphics though, so it'll do the job.

If I may guess, is that an eMachines you have? It's the only OEM I've seen with the Radeon Xpress 200 chipset.

That's true, a PCIe 6800 does not seem to be great value for money. It's significantly more expensive than the AGP version, and yet is not unlockable.

I would recommend that you wait for a couple of weeks (why doesn't the price slash happen already?) and then get a 6800GT. That is a magnificent card, you'll be very happy.

About the price of 6800GT . . . it's unlikely to drop until December 2005/January 2006 . . . . :thumbdwn:

You left out your monitor, if its a 19" 1280x1024 then you MUST go for the GT, but if you just play at 1024x768 then go for.. the GT! Your CPU is really nice and shouldnt be held back by the NU.

get another gig of RAM and a 6800 256mb would do awesome in BF 2 (2 gigs of RAM will make ur computer way faster, run games faster and smoother, and cut down of the loading times)
