just a warning...if you own a psp with the 1.5 bios and update to this, say bye-bye- to homebrew.

1.5 = homebrew 2.0 = internet ...gotta ask yourself which is more important.

I suppose it depends on how you use your PSP. If you take it everywhere, then it may be handy to have 2.0 w/ a wireless webbrowser, but if you just use it on trips or are at home, then I'd stick with homebrew.

Anyone know whether or not you can apply this update if you've already applied the Japanese 2.0 update? I would assume that they're the same thing...but maybe not?

Sorry should of mentioned that you would loose homebrew ability....

The homebrew thing sucks, but mine came out of the box with 1.51.

The JP 2.0 and NA 2.0 updates are the same. According to Sony they will be releasing another update for NA (2.1) shortly that will change that.

Thanks ENU291 for that info. Do you know if the NA 2.1 will be able to upgrade the JP 2.0 version?

The NA 2.1 update will update the JP 2.0 system software.

where did you hear about the 2.1? not that i dont beleive ya, just i havent seen anything about it

Visit the playstation portable web site and read the forums or go to IGN. They both mention the update.

Note: I believe the update will be version 2.01 not 2.1. Sorry for the confusion. ;)

Cool, thanks again ENU291.

Sony recommends that folks who did the jp update run the us update.

This was on a news story about how the jp update voids the warranty.

oldsk00l that is no longer the case. Sony will now support any version of 2.0 installed on a NA PSP. Read THIS (http://psp.ign.com/articles/644/644823p1.html) for more details.

Because 2.00 is the same in Japan and North America, the Network Updater will not be able to download the official North American release if you already have the Japanese edition (it checks to see if you need an update before you begin downloading.) Those still nervous about having an import version of the software should be able to switch to an official NA version when the next release is made available. The North American and Japanese releases of 2.00 should be functionally identical.
