View Full Version : Please help!!! DFI NF4-SLI DR

I just got my brand new DFI NF4 motherboard and whenever I insert the memory in dual channel mode it will immediately lock up. When I use the memory in single channel mode its fine. I've tried different memory and it does the same thing. What am I doing wrong?

It should have 4 diagnostic LEDs, that might be a start.
When I first got my board I had lots of issues, turned out it was the RAM, Corsair Value Select PC-2700, which I was using from my old rig until my new RAM came in. I could never get it to boot into dual channel, and had to change memory slots to get it to work, even then I would sometimes have to restart several times. After I got the OCZ ram I haven't had a single issue.
I think a few people around here have had similar issues with the board, in that its somewhat picky about RAM..
Did you make sure to put them in the proper DIMMs ? 2,4 not 1,3.

Well thanks for the help. After all night of thinking I had a dud for a motherboard. The memory would work with dimms in 1,2 but when I put them in 2,4 - lock up and bsod. I disabled the 'enable external cache' in the bios and all my stability issues went away. Really weird.
lol dont you love those stupid bios options that totally kill your comp? :p

Yea, but I just ran 3dmark05 and I lost 2000 points!! ahhhhhhhhhh. I'm gonna do a reinstall.

I still have the problem. When I disable the external cache I only get about 6200 in 3dmark05 and 14000 in 3dmark03. When I enable it and it doesn't crash I get over 8000 in 3dmark05, but my system is unstable.

I just installed the latest bios and its working normal now - thank god. my memory is pc4800 at 2.5/4/4/8 but I have no idea how to enter all the dram values. I can get the ram up to 300mhz easily but my proc wont go past 2.5ghz.
