I put a Konfabulator widget together tonight that will pull down the 10 most recent posts on the forums here. It auto-refreshes every 60 seconds. This is based on the Digg Digger and PHP Freaks widgets.

I'd like to add some preferences to this that will allow you to adjust the auto-refresh duration, maybe pick certain forums to watch instead of just top 10 overall, change color scheme, etc.

For now though, this is just pulling in the top 10 just as if you'd clicked on the "New Posts" link.

That's odd. It works for me on a few different machines now. I also had Gib test it last night and it worked for him. Can you send me a screenshot of what you're seeing? maxpower@nvnews.net Thanks.

i have been tinkering, and i havent been able to see wetaher or news feeds or anything. so, its not your widget, its my enterprise network firewall.

wel, it not an issue:). i work in the network control center at my Base and i knew that our firewall would spoil my fun

I just did upload it to widgetgallery...had to ask MikeC's permission first. :)

Yes, believe it or not, I was wishing I had a nvnews.net widget. I have a bunch of RSS widgets, and what not, I am using this at work :)

Is it possible to have certain forums blocked from uploading to the widget? Like, maybe I don't wish to see threads from the linux forum, or political.. or whatever :) Either way, this is awesome :)

Yeah, those are exactly the kinds of options that I'd like to build in to future versions. I dug around last night to figure out how/where vBulletin makes the 10 most recent posts available as an RSS feed. Once I found that I just ran with it to get this initial version out. Allowing you to pick and choose would be really cool, something I've got to research some more...if anyone has any insight please let me know. Thanks again! :cool:

How about the ability to switch it to the 10 latest posts? Rather than the 10 latest new threads?

One more suggestion... can you make the nvnews.net logo on the top of the widget, direct to www.nvnews.net homepage when clicked?

I really like this utility, because it will help me reach my goal of 10 million posts :D

I don't like running things like Konfabulator on my main system but I've been enjoying playing around with it on my 2nd. The nvnews widget is really cool. Thanks Clay.

i am completely taken by the widget stuff.. i am going to dive in head forst tomorrow and try to make some sort of widget.. i dont know whats its function will be just yet..

Cool! Yeah they're fun and can be very functional. Since Yahoo bought Konfabulator and made it free the floodgates have been opened. :)
