View Full Version : OCZ 2gb PC 3200 RAM

I know a few of you fellows have the OCZ 2gb kits like I do. Thing is I am having ass for overclocks with this stuff. 230x11 is the best it will do and I have relaxed the timing all to hell trying to get 250.
Now I can pop my old crucial Ballistix 1mb kit in my rig and do 246x11 at 2.5-3-3-8. That's a solid 2.7. I am thinking about ditching this memory. My CPU obviously has some uptapped potential here.
I am wondering how this ram is performing for those who have it. What is the most it will do for you?

In general, all 2GB kits won't have the same OCing potential that the 2x512MB ones do. If you insist on faster ram, try the PC4000 Crucial Ballistix kit (2x1024MB - 3-3-3-8) and they can do DDR400 at 2-2-2-5. My platinums can't hit anything past 235 fsb.
What kinda voltage are you guys putting into them?

You have to use ratio .83 if you want to OC your CPU , OCZ 2 gig set is better for low latency they are not very good MHz pushers at 1.0 ratio.
Don't worry set multy to 10 , select DDR 333 (.83) at up HT/FSB to 260 and you will get CPU at 2.6Ghz and ram will run at 217(DDR434) (cas 2.5 rest is 3) (over 6100 in sandra im happy) at 1.45 Volts for CPU in my case needed 1.46 for stability running two prime test gets this thing hot especially if you up volts to 1.5 or higher can exceed 70c
2.7 for me no go at 1.46 volts and my passive water cooling can't handle higher volts :p if you got good cooling you can push harder very easy with divider.

Well I put up to 2.9v on 'em. This mobo will output 3.1 and I have an old OCZ booster if I want to ramp higher.
I found a review here on 2gb kits and the OCZs I have just don't seem to go that high.
Yes they can hold insanely tight timings at stock. Mine can do this:
Having 2gb ram helps in MMO's immensely. I have been wanting to try the OCZ VX and it puts me back at 1gb. 2-2-2-8 at PC 4000 speeds:

I love my OCZ ram ... 2-3-2-5 @ 1T with 2.7volts. Then again ... im not OC'ing it much past 400mhz because im still on 32bit and at 400Mhz im already OC'ed to 2.5Ghz :p Im thinking of trying 2-2-2-5 @ 1T with 2.8volts and see what I get. Does anyone have a link to get a good memory bandwidth tester??? I always here about sandra... anyone care to link me? :) Im curious to see how my memory benches as everything has run so much more smoothy with it.
