I recently upgraded from APG to PCI-E. With AGP I had to set an aperture size to specify how much system memory was shared with the video card. With PCI-E how does this work?

It seems to be doing it automatically because in Doom3 I had to set and aperture size of 256 to play the ultra quality. With the PCI-E the ultra is available and I didn't set anything. If it's automatic, is it limited in size in any way? Please help a PCI-E noob understand. Thanks.

It's diferent tech so I don't think PCI-E has aperture size. It works diferently. You don't have to worry about that. I wouldn't worry about that now that you have a 7800.

PCIE hardware does not need an apature. Nor does it use it. As far as I know drivers determine this for PCIE cards.
