This is one of the best movies I have seen. I just wanted to get your guy's thoughts on it. I am not worried too much about the changes from the book because the movie was so seamless in it's presentation. Anyhoo, I can't wait for The Return of The King. :)

I liked it a lot. Although there was one character that was not true to the book in a lot of ways and that annoyed me (spoiler - Faramir is way different from the books), but overall the movie was quite good.

edit - added although.

that was a great movie and to imagine it only gets better, and elijah wood say return of the king will be the best of the trilogy. i would've liked to see more of the old men getting high like in the first one, or like when the town had a party and everyone got high. that was classic.

I totally agree with Starscream, LOTR:TTT really liked me. But Faramir was too way different from the books. Maybe that will change in Return of the King.

Ditto. I thought it was a killa movie -- even had to wait for the 10:50 showing. Talk about getting out of a movie late. :)

Heh, I got so lucky.
I was able to see it last Friday, at the first showing (11 AM), and the theatre there was barely half full...i was even a couple of minutes late (They were showing previews when I got in).

Another thing changed was.....

Arwen's (sp)'s not appearing at Helm's Deep. I heard this was done for continuity reasons (What do you think Aragorn would have done if she had shown up?), and was actually a very good decision, although if she had come, that River scene would not have been necessary...

The Faramir thing was questionable, although I'm sure there is some good debate on alt.fan.tolkien.

I was UTTER SHOCK at some points in the movie, like when that young kid had to put on a sword and shield...I was just shellshocked. And I cried at several points just to the nature of the human tragedy... Haven't felt THAT enthralled in a LONG time, and I'm quite sensitive, too.

This movie is indeed one of the best movies in recent memory...easily rising to the level of Aliens (one of the best movies ever) and Terminator 2 and Empire Strikes Back.

I'm with you man!! what a scene!!

I dint feel the same since the "thin red line". (please dont shot me, i know they are completely diferent movies)

The preparatives of the war makes me feel desesperate, with no future. What are we doing?, Why? all that ****.

The thing that bugged me the most was that the charaters had quite a bit of dought. Unlike the book that had our heroes stead fast. I'm sure this was done dramatic effect, still it kinda surprised me.

That swamp scene was cool! Creepy thousands of year dead elves and such trying to kill frodo. Pretty nifty stuff.

It was a good movie... a little longer than it needed to be. I don't think all those dreams about Arwin needed to be there, or her arguement with her father. I half expected Arwin to show up at Helms deep with the Elves, but she didn't. So why did the whole arguement with her father need to be in the movie?

The battle at helms deep was well done, though the jokes about the dwarf and his little contest with legolas about how many orcs they killed could have been lost. This was supposed to be a battle of life and death between half of the human race on middle earth and 10,000 orcs, but they were joking and almost having a good time on occassions.

I was awestruck by the bit when the rohan riders with gandalf ride down the slope at the moment of sunrise. That would make an awesome desktop wallpaper I think :)

I was impressed by the character of Golum / Smeegle. I think they conveyed his character very well. The wide range of emotions from the hateful to the pityfull were well accomplished for a computer generated character.

I thought that was extremely stupid as well, but it was in the book, so it was one of the few things Jackson decided to retain.

the scenery and special effects were amazing, but I kinda disliked the fact that throughout the slaughter and massive battles, none of the main characters were never even touched, they were invincible, where was the blood on the swords?

Just got back from watching it. I thought it was really good, and I haven't even seen the first one

The scene where the wall was destroyed in Helm's Deep and people and debris are flying everywhere still gets me staring slackjawed. That entire battle was amazing. I loved the movie, even if it was so different from the books. The best touch they included has got to be Smeagol's cough. I remembered in the hobbit where they described him as a creature calling himself Gollum because of the way he coughed. I hadn't seen this represented in any other Tolkien adaptation and was happy they showed it in this movie.

I can't wait for Return of the King. A year seems way too far away.

I have read the Lord of the Rings some 25 years ago so I don't remember much details about each caracter...I tend to buy the story as it is. I was lucky enough to remember that Frodo was the ring carrier and....hummmmm..... oh yeah..... the name of Apple's first and only attempt at a kind of palm pilot came from that book. This is pretty much it!

So I sat in the theater awaiting to be enchanted like I was for the first movie and... nope... it didn't happened... Ok you can hate me now.... But I will stand by my opinion....:o
It is a wonderful movie but... It is a long long long...very long movie where you can feel the lack of time to properly treat some elements. Gandalf return should have been a more consistant event... Oh look!!!... there is Gandalf....Oh ok guys see you later... bye... and that's it. But we had a long time to spare to go on a walk in the woods with a talking tree! The battle was interesting at some point, especially in the way the attack was organized... very clever for goblins and orcs. But some humans and dwarfs are less mortal than others and can take on alot more danger... yeah right!!!:afro2:
Don't get me wrong... It is not a bad movie... it is rather a good one but it lack the sustain action and discovery the first had.

Waiting upon the third and final chapter....:o

No beatles?! Well...that's not too bad. I don't care for thier music, but I love thier movies.

The Two Towers was great. Only 2 things kept me from fully enjoying it. 1) They showed it in the crappier of the 2 theatres in town. 2) PEOPLE FRIGGIN TALKING! I think theatres should come equiped with headphones so you don't have to listen to thier slackjawed chatter. I cannot wait till this comes out on DVD so I can truly watch it with no interuptions.

I did, however, watch it twice. The second time was a toss up between Two Towers or Nemesis. I'd already seen them both once before. May go see Nemesis once more before they take it out of theatres. Wish I could find a good download of it.......er...I mean.....I, uh....CRAP! :p

Man I hate that. When I went to see it there was a guy sitting in front of me who kept talking, so I kicked the back of his seat every time he made a comment to his friend. He got the idea after a few minutes and shut up.
