LMFAO!!! Hello no.
I used every version of XP and so far Home rules. It doesn't have as many services running in the background.

Corporate?

You can't buy that in stores. Whether it exists or not it's another story, certainly not legal.

Buy the Pro version through the college, I did that, I only paid $11 for mines. It is totally legal, and I bought it brand new, unopened with a totally legit, origional, and unique license. :D ;)

Corp edition is only to be used by Corporations who pay for multiple licenses. for anyone else(consumers) it's illegal and you would never get your hands on it legally.

well personally, i would never pirate a new OS.

that kinda brings up another question though. if you install and activate XP then build another computer later, can you activate XP on that computer? do you have to buy another license? what if you delete it off of the first computer?

Yeah. At worst, you have to call MS. I know a guy who called them up and hassled them because he installed XP on his laptop and his desktop, and they said, "Meh, whatever, here's the activation key"

The Corporate Version is the same as XP Pro but without the need for activation.

I'm running what appears to be "Corporate" WinXP Pro on two home machines. I use them for telecommuting with my office, of course. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

The machines use the same SN/key for installation, and don't balk when both are on the broadband LAN simultaneously, which I understand is not the case for non-corporate WinXP. Additionally I swap hardware a lot (CPUs, motherboards, HD, RAM, PCI cards) and never have been asked to supply a new key. This makes me think I have the alleged "corporate edition" of XP Pro.

I'd be amused to try something that would 'break' a non-corporate WinXP install. What kind of activity would a non-corporate WinXP configuration complain about?

A/ Lying
B/ Ashamed of his product
C/ Just... damnit, just look at my sig. :)

Seriously:
He either doesn't have it or he is very protective over it. Maybe even scared if M$ find out about it he will go to jail.

I might get home, since its cheaper, and all of the things that pro has over it I won't even use anyway, I like my 3rd party software.
