I have a Gainward 6800 Ultra at the moment and am going to London soon. Is it time for an upgrade? Right now I have a K8NE Motherboard, a 3400+ AMD 64bit and a gig of Kingmax DDRam.

Should I keep the 6800U with 66.93 drivers, get a 7800 or an SLI 6800U setup... I realize that I'll need to get a new motherboard with any of the latter 2 options. Are there any 7800s that don't need PCI-E though?

I see that NVidia have released 77.77 drivers. How are these? My favourites to date have been 66.93s.

Well I found that a 7800GTX was as fast if not faster than my overclocked 6800GT's in SLI.

So if you only have a single 6800U the 7800GT or GTX would be nice upgrade. If you plan on holding onto your motherboard for a couple of years then get an SLI board so you have an upgrade path. Your CPU would be the bottle neck if you tried to go SLI with 7800's on it. Heck my FX 55 is still CPU bound with the 7800 GTX's. Going to wait for dual core FX for my next CPU grade since I can overclock mine to FX 57 speeds.

Upgade only if you want/need to play the newest or highest graphics games on the high settings. I had a 6800GT and had to tone down FEAR, now I can let loose. :)

Well, I'd like to be able to play them although I find myself strapped for time regarding gaming nowadays...Maybe I should just save up for a PS3/Xbox360...

My monitor only supports 1024X768 resolution, and that's actually fine for me...But for physchological as well as enjoyment reasons, I like having my detail to set to Very High...Would a new game like FEAR run well under those settings and resolution?

There are no 7800 AGP Alternatives are there?

meh.

The new consoles keep sound worse and worse. They looked fantastic when they were first announced, then all the dirt comes out :)

The 77.77's work great. You will probably gain a decent amount of FPS by updating to these :)
