View Full Version : how do i remove the heatsink?

ok i just got my Zalman VF700-cu in the other day and i was wandering how do i remove the 6800 le heatsink safely incase the Zalman VF700-cu doesnt work out. do i push the back 2 pins together with some pilers and push them out?

It's not difficult, just take your time with it. Once you get the tension pins released the HSF will come off easily...they're not glued down like they used to be years ago.

ok well that didnt help at all with taking it off but anyways took a pare of pilers to the two back pins squeezed em together and it came off like a charm and the directions to pun on the zalman vf700-cu where easy and to the point but thanks and now i idle at 54c instead of at 70c

Well, my directions (http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/arctic_cooler_nv5_silencer/images/steps_large.jpg) were for a 6800 Ultra which has a different mounting mechanism. Just thought it might help in some way. Glad you figured it out.
