I wondering why we don't have a somehing like smartshader effects on ati cars? In my op this is a cool feature. Personaly im not a ati or nvidia cards fan, but with this i can turn on nice effects. Btw, look at this:

http://www.beyond3d.com/downloads/smartshader/

Get pssControl2.zip entries.zip AND psseffects.zip

Extract psscontrol2.zip to any folder

Extract the "all" folder from entries.zip to the same folder
Extract psseffects.zip to the same folder
Open pssControl2.exe and browse the "all" folder for desired effect
All you have to do is open one of the .pss files and its automatically turned on To turn off smartshader just hit the fat button that says it.

HDRish is the one your looking for. it was made by NitroGL, its a ittle bit over done though.
also if you want motion blur, use Ghost from psseffects.zip (the one from entries.zip does not work)

GeForce 6 and 7 series cards can do HDR in hardware, ergo a "Smartshader" is unnecessary.

I've experimented with Smartshader in my ATI days. It gets old after about 5 minutes. I'm personally glad NVIDIA hasn't wasted development time with stuff like that.

This is not a HDR but bloom. And you can use it for any opengl game, and this is cool. Old games, like quake, quake 2 o even doom 3 looks very nice with this.

Wasted time for development? Smartshader is very simple feature. You can create and modify your own effects.

Yes something like this does exsist for NV cards. Itīs an OpenGL Bloom/HDR mod orginally made for Doom 3 but it actually works in most OpenGL applications that tried. http://d3glow.clanugsm.com/

Smartshaders can do alot more then bloom.
But like mentioned, its more of a novelty for most, atleast for me..
When I had a 9700Pro I thought it was pretty neat at first, but then after trying out the different Shaders, I never really used it again..
The bloom shader might be nice to have as a option for some games tho (and as mentioned in prev post, there is for OGL on NV), but its not something I miss or ever think about since moving to my 6800GT..
the Supersampling modes are well worth the trade for example.

It's like playing through Far Cry with the "Cartoon" rendering mode enabled. Who the heck has done this, I wonder? I feel it's just a neat little 7 minute gimmick, as are ATi's Smartshader modes. I played with them on the 9800Pro, thought "nifty but useless", went back to no Smartshader and moved on.

Id like to enable a bloom shader for certain games..but not only opengl...
