the 15th race of the season, the Italian GP! :D  :beer2:

last year, when this race was run, Schumi was world champ and ferrari won the construcotr's title. this year, a completely different story. Renault thanks to Alonso lead, and Kimi and McLaren chase, whilst Schumi has conceeded defeat.

friday practice was dominated by McLaren, grabing spots 2-4. Zonta, test driver for Toyota, got the 1st spot. both Williams BMWs were fast, in 4th and 5th. the championship leader was in 10th, whislt the driver in F1 (never to win a race) was in 18th, one position behind Sato. the Ferraris were slow, with Schumi in 12th and Rubens in 16th, Massa in 13th and JV in 15th. DC was in 19th in practice, well behind hs teammate.

some news:
Schumacher conceeds the top position in F1 to either Alonso or Kimi, as hiis Ferrari is just not fast (or reliable) enough to compete, and he is too far behind to catch up: http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=135205

rumours abound that after 2006 Schumi might either retire or move to McLaren, whilst Kimi would go to Ferrari. question, why would Schumie leave Ferrari? he doesn't need the money. if the team is not competitive next year, he will retire, rich and still healthy. however, if the team is successful, he will still retire, on toop of the world, and be a legend in motorracing. Schumi's denial: http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=135205 and Kimi's denial: http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=134502

Minardi to be bought? by Red Bull? interesting. if they could have two teams, why not other major car manufacturers? if this does happen, it would be another blow to the small team owner, since Sauber has sold out, Jordan will likely be sold (again), leaving only Williams as the lone minnow in a rather large pond:URL]http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=135296[/URL]

more passing next year? i won't hold my breath. who needs passing when we can have a parade? seriously, who doesn't love a parade? :rolleyes:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33919

BAR wants to surpass the 400 KM/h barrier in a test drive in the Utah salt flats:http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33918

Heidfeld to Button: honour your deal! that whiny little crybaby? i'd like to see him suck it up and act like a man, but he'll try to weasel his way out:http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_story.asp?ID=135185&hubName=

Scott Speed, an American driver, will join the growing stable at RBR as a test driver/reserve next year, with the likelihood of eventually being a full-fledged F1 driver:http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns15509.html

China to ban tobacco ads? whatever and wherever will F1 do (and go)? no, of course China will allow the race to continue branded, so we will all get to see Mild Seven, Marlboro, etc, since the race will generate a lot of $$$ and that's all that matters, right?:http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns15473.html

hmm, was Alonso playing it safe and being conservative, or is he really struggling?

About Schumi retiring or moving to McLaren...he could have retired 5 years ago a wealthy, healthy man. It's the desire to drive. If I had Shumi's money, I wouldnt retire either. I'd find a new team (McLaren, or Williams) and try and win with them. OR (just joking) he could drive for Minardi and see if he REALLY has what it takes :D

McLaren is forced to changed Kimi's engine as a precaution. again. he will be penalized 10 spots, and his bad luck continues. but, he has demonstrated that even starting well off the top 10 that he can still muscle his way through the field. http://www.formula1.com/race/news/3524/746.html

Pizzonia in for Heidfeld, who had an accident whilst testing last week and is unable to continue: http://www.formula1.com/race/news/3520/746.html

as expected, Kimi was fastest but JPM gets the pole as a result of his unfortuanate team-mate's engine change, so he'll start 11th, behind DC and in front of JV, whilst the points leader Alonso starts 2nd and looks good to score some valuable points. both BARs were really fast, with Button in 3rd and Sato right behind him. 5th was Trulli, followed by the Ferraris, with Schumie edging Rubens, so at least the Tifosi will have something to cheer for. rounding out the top 10 is Fisichella in 8th, Ralf S in 9th and DC's RBR car in 10th. the Williams sandwiched Massa, disappointing again by grabbing 14th and 16th positions.

Michelin to F1: do not use a single tire manufacturer next year because it would be bad for the sport. what they mean: after the fiasco at Indy, don't cut us out of the most lucrative racing series in the world in favour of Bridgestone, please, becase we need the marketing exposure, especially in emerging consumer markets. oh, and we'll actually design a tire next year that will work at Indy (that is, if they let us back there):http://www.formula1.com/news/3526.html

Indeed. With the one-pitstop strategy he could've easily won. Damn Michelin.

Anyway, it's been amazing to see Kimi's McLaren, with such a quantity of fuel, go so fast. Incredible.

Fun race, anyway. :)

It's official. Raikkonen is the un-luckiest man in Formula One 2005. :mad:true. Kimi luck is all bad. blown engine, caught behind a slower JV for 14 or so laps, a shredded rear tire that needed to be changed, and a spin out when he was pressing too hard, but he still managed to finish 4th (altjough, he could have had a podium). what a fast, yet unreliable, car. JPM wins, follwed by the two Renaults. in 5th and 6th, the Toyotas, with Trulli edging Ralf. Pizzonia, a last minute fill-in, gets 7th (compared to Webber, all the way back in 14th) while Button, who qualied good, only was able to get 8th. still, that was better then Sato, down in 16th.

a really disappointing day for Ferrari, with Schumi in 10th and Rubens in 12th, whilst Massa was 9th and JV 11th. Ferrari's decline is complete: Schumie has been officially eliminated from the driver's championship, and in the constructors, Ferrari in 3rd, is only 8 points ahead of Toyota. RBR was nowhere to be found, with Kilien 13th and DC 15th. all 20 cars that started the race finished the race, so cheers for Jordan and Minardi!
